Federated Church Placerville Active Christians working to follow the ways and attitudes of Jesus. Simple, honest and welcoming.

The welcoming and inclusive congregation of El Dorado County Federated Church consists of members of the United Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church (USA), people of other Christian traditions, as well as those who have not grown up in any faith tradition. We are called to articulate and practice a perspective of Progressive Christianity, which emphasizes social justice and care for the poor and marginalized s an expression of Jesus' instruction to "love one another'. Rather than forcing absolute answers, Federated Church is open to asking and living the very real questions of life.

We elected our Pastor Nominating Committee!! Congratulations to Linda Bond, Jennifer Abrahams, Marlene McDonough, Bill Ettlich, Andy Galloway, Reed Anderson and Wendy Silverthorn!
From the charge to the PNC given by Jan Cokely yesterday:
“Those who have agreed to serve on the PNC should understand and accept this as a task of spiritual discernment, not being easily influenced by personal desires or congregational politics, but rather listening for the still, small voice of God. They also should be persons of integrity who respect confidentiality.
In the Presbyterian call system, the congregation gives authority to the PNC. Once the PNC is elected, the other members of the congregation and the session have no role in determining who will be the next pastor until the PNC is ready to recommend someone to the congregation for a vote. 💙
May God bless the work of this team. Amen.”

What bread(s) will you bring to help us fill
Our baskets tomorrow for World Communion Sunday? 🍞🥖🥐🥨🥯🫓

“Holy Spirit, breathe upon this bread and this cup and upon all who receive them.
As Christians around the world gather today,
make us mindful of one another:
of those who worship in crowded churches
and those who gather in small communities;
of those who celebrate with joyful music and dancing
and those whose worship is quiet and contemplative;
of those who have enough to eat
and those who cry out for bread;
of those who worship in freedom
and those who gather amid conflict, displacement, or persecution.
Make us one in the love of Christ. Amen.”

Join us this Sunday for World Communion as we come to the table of the People of God to remember our call to love our neighbors all over the world. Bring your favorite loaf of bread and a spread for our coffee hour celebration - naan and yogurt dip, tortillas and salsa, sourdough and honey, pita and hummus...whatever you want to share!
Worship begins at 10AM Pacific - both on site and online - and we will hear a sermon by Pastor Laura on "Is God Still Speaking?" based on the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20. See you in church!

Federated Family!! Let’s refill these shelves!!
“SHARE is in DESPERATE need of donations! SHARE is currently out of canned vegetables and soup, and extremely low on canned fruit and Mac and Cheese. If you are able to help, we would greatly appreciate it. Times are so hard for folks right now with the price of gas, inflation and cuts to benefits. Thank you and God Bless.”

An argument for World Communion Sunday
By Rev Maren Tirabassi on September 30, 2026

“It’s gotten out of date,” someone said,
this custom of mid-twentieth century.

On the contrary, I reply,
after listening to my country’s current leader
slamming the entire United Nations,
praising the destruction
of the environment
for the world’s grandchildren,
boasting of incarcerating
those who most need welcome

and starting a war
that makes no sense, but violence,
and more poverty,
helped less, at home,

sharing Communion across national borders
seems like the least we can do,
hoping against all logic,
that a weeping world
would ever want to break Bread
and share a Cup with us."

Join us! Sunday, Oct 4th at 10AM Pacific - on site or online!

TIME TO PLEDGE! If you have not returned your stewardship pledge to the office (or via email or online) please do so soon. We are making plans for our 2027 budget and would like to have this information as soon as possible.
Your pledge goes to support our wonderful worship, Children & Youth, the music ministry, our mission projects and the multiple outreach programs of our church. Your financial support matters to this church and to its ongoing presence in this community.
If you haven’t pledged in the past, please consider starting at whatever level you can afford. Every contribution helps us to live out our mission: practicing the love, compassion, and radical hospitality of Jesus Christ.
