💔 Heartbreaking Reality Check 🌈
When dogs and cats enter shelters and don’t leave with someone—whether through adoption, fostering, reclaiming, or rescue—they face the tragic reality of being lost forever. It’s a deeply heartbreaking truth confronted every single day; it is crushing.

Beautiful souls, full of love and loyalty, who never go home with their family. Some were older, many were very young, some shy, others joyful and playful. All of them friendly, loving and deserving to be loved in return and wanted.

🌈 May every dog and cat leaving this world without the comfort of a loving family find peace and freedom, crossing the bridge with the knowledge that they truly mattered and there will be no more kennel doors. 💙

~ Want to make positive difference and lessen the number lost?~

📢 PSA -CALL TO ACTION 🆘‼
Heartbreaking Update 8/19/25 - These 3 urgent dogs are no longer available- RIP.

Thirteen dogs arrived at the already full shelter today—in just one day! Sadly, no dogs have been adopted over the past several days, leaving the shelter with zero open kennels by the end of today. Unfortunately, tough decisions will need to be made tomorrow.

If you have a safe spot inside your home and heart to give a deserving shelter dog a place to stay, even as a temporary foster, please think about helping a Rockingham Co Shelter dog soon!

Can't adopt or foster at the moment? and makes a huge difference in them being seen by more people. The first step to being saved is being seen!

Additionally, these dogs are marked URGENT & need NOW to be saved

👉 Click on their post picture for more about them! 👈

🌟 Tokey - No longer available 8/19/25

🔣 Introducing ... Mr EINSTEIN ❤

This dashing red haired doggo is a canine mathematician...
✏️ 12 trees with 2 squirrels each, that equals x-y times 52 tail wags
✏️ If 1 of my 3 toys disappears under the sofa, I have no toys
Doggy math is ruff!

All jokes aside, Einstein is a sweet boy who truly loves companionship, delicious treats, playing, and curling up with a soft blanket and his family on the sofa.

He’s on the hunt for a cozy indoor space to be part of all the daily family antics, combined with a securely fenced yard for thrilling zoomies and memorable family outings. Add in a few leashed walks, stops for pup cups, and the occasional burger run, and his perfect family routine is complete!

Ready to experience the kind of loyalty and companionship only a dog like Einstein can offer? Swing by soon during adoption hours, Monday through Saturday, from 1:00 to 4:30 pm, and let Einstein charm his way into your heart.

‼ EXTREMELY URGENT - Very Pregnant Mom- Need Reputable 501c3 Rescue help QUICKLY ‼ ** Not available for adoption**

Adorable Miss Brownie was recently surrendered and is about to deliver her puppies, but a crowded shelter is not the place for them, an experienced whelping foster home is where they need to be. Newborn puppies are highly vulnerable to various exposures, and the shelter environment can be incredibly stressful for mother dogs.

She is a sweet girl, understandably a bit shy, trying to figure out what happened and why she’s there. Brownie is adorable, friendly, and deserves a wonderful life—just like her soon-to-be-born puppies.

** See interaction video in comments - sweet loving girl**
** Passed Dog Test - video available upon request to the shelter**

They need to be placed in the loving hands a reputable 501c3 organization their experienced whelping foster before the pups are born!

We’re so excited to see this come to life!

Calling on Rockingham County High School Seniors!

Are you searching for a meaningful senior class project that will leave a lasting impact on your community? Friends of Eden Animal Rescue is seeking a dedicated student to partner with our team in developing a financial plan for a spay/neuter assistance program to help low-income families and senior citizens care for their pets.

This project is a chance to combine compassion for animals with real-world skills in research, budgeting, and nonprofit development. Your work will directly support animal welfare while addressing a critical community need.

I. Project Overview

This senior project will focus on developing a sustainable financial plan for Friends of Eden Animal Rescue to expand their spay/neuter assistance program. The program will target low-income families and senior citizens in Rockingham County, NC, who struggle to afford the cost of veterinary sterilization services for their pets.

By reducing financial barriers to spay/neuter services, the program will help lower pet overpopulation, reduce shelter intake, and improve animal welfare in the community.

II. Project Objectives
1. Assess Community Need
• Research local pet overpopulation rates and shelter intake statistics.
• Gather data on the number of low-income and senior households in the service area.
2. Review Current Resources
• Analyze Friends of Eden Animal Rescue’s current funding and budget for spay/neuter assistance.
• Identify available grant opportunities, donations, and partnerships.
3. Develop Financial Strategy
• Create a cost estimate for the program based on projected demand.
• Design a funding plan that includes grants, fundraising campaigns, local business sponsorships, and donor outreach.
4. Build a Sustainability Model
• Propose a plan for ongoing funding beyond the project year.
• Identify potential long-term partnerships with veterinary clinics and local organizations.

III. Project Activities & Timeline

Phase Tasks Timeline
1. Research & Data Collection Meet with Friends of Eden Animal Rescue leaders, interview local veterinarians, collect statistics on pet overpopulation and demographics. Weeks 1–3
2. Financial Assessment Review current funding sources, cost of spay/neuter services, and financial constraints. Weeks 4–5
3. Funding Opportunities Research Identify grants, potential sponsors, fundraising ideas, and donor engagement strategies. Weeks 6–8
4. Draft Financial Plan Prepare a comprehensive financial strategy including cost estimates and revenue sources. Weeks 9–10
5. Community Feedback Present the draft to Friends of Eden leadership for input and adjustments. Week 11
6. Finalize & Present Deliver final financial plan to Friends of Eden board and school faculty. Week 12

IV. Expected Outcomes
• A detailed financial plan ready for implementation by Friends of Eden Animal Rescue.
• Identification of specific funding sources to cover spay/neuter costs for eligible pet owners.
• Partnership proposals for local vets and businesses.
• A model budget that is realistic, sustainable, and adaptable.

V. Community Impact

This project will directly support Friends of Eden Animal Rescue’s mission by making spay/neuter services more accessible to underserved pet owners. Long-term, it will help reduce pet overpopulation, improve animal health, and lessen the financial burden on local animal shelters.

VI. Evaluation & Reporting
• Faculty advisor and Friends of Eden mentor will review progress at each phase.
• Final deliverable will be a written financial plan with an accompanying oral presentation to the Friends of Eden board.
• Student will submit a final reflection report detailing the process, challenges, and lessons learned.

Update 8/18/25 - Rescued by: Hope Animal Rescue

🤩 Introducing... Mr WILEY ❤
Pocket Puppy for now! At just 2 months old, Wiley is a tiny 3.5 pounds, but he’s going to grow. Even so, he’ll likely stay small, probably weighing under 20 pounds when fully grown.

Wiley is the office social butterfly, having a blast with his doggy buddy. His ultimate favorites? Endless cuddles, chaotic playtime, a buffet of tiny treats, and power naps like a pro.

This little guy is sure to bring happiness and devoted companionship to his new family! Wiley hopes to find a loving indoor home where he can feel secure and treasured, while enjoying playful moments with his family in a safely fenced yard.

Puppies are adorable, and they require dedicated caregivers and training to help them mature into wonderful adult dogs. Keeping them safe inside the house and providing leashed walks and family time playing in a securely fenced yard is essential. It is considerable amount of time and work, but it is INCREDIBLY rewarding.

Considering adding a forever furry friend to your home and diving into with a secure fenced yard ready? If so, come by and meet Wiley soon! The shelter is open for visits Monday through Saturday, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM.

WILEY- 2 mo old male, currently 3.5 pounds and will grow more to full adult size which may be 15-20 pounds, UTD Vaccines, Passed Dog Test, Friendly.

📢PSA - Please take advantage of this amazing program if you qualify!

Community involvement is desperately needed to focus on spay/neuter as the primary and most humane way to address the pet overpopulation crisis. The number of homeless, stray, abandoned pets is staggering and the suffering is heartbreaking.

This program is so easy to participate in and the voucher cost is significantly lower than regular surgery fees.
