🌀 School Supply Drive Update 🌀

Due to the anticipated impact of Typhoon Dolfin and out of an abundance of caution for our volunteers and community, we have made the decision to postpone this weekend's FREE School Supply Drive.

While we're disappointed to delay such a fun event, the safety of our families always comes first.

Don't worry......we'll still be giving away FREE school supplies! Just check out the updated flyer for our new date and time.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. We can't wait to see everyone soon and help our kids get ready for an amazing school year!

In the meantime, stay safe, secure any outdoor items, stock up on your favorite snacks, and take care of one another. We'll see you at the rescheduled event

***Event Alert***
One of the best parts of being a military spouse is building connections throughout our entire military community, and this is a wonderful opportunity to do just that!

The Marine Corps Association is once again hosting its Military Spouse Networking Event, and after the amazing turnout and positive feedback from last year's event, we highly recommend checking it out. Whether you're hoping to discover new resources, meet spouses from other installations and organizations, or simply enjoy a fun evening out, this event has something for everyone.

🤝 Connect with fellow military spouses.
💡 Learn about valuable community resources.
🍽️ Enjoy a FREE dinner.
❤️ Grow your network beyond OESC and make lasting connections.

💛 Meet Stephanie Fehrer, our returning Chief Financial Officer! 💛

If Stephanie had her way, she'd probably have us skip this post entirely. 😂 She's the first to admit she doesn't love talking about herself or being the center of attention... but we couldn't let our board introduction series end without celebrating her!

Now entering her second year on the OESC Board, Stephanie brings a calm, thoughtful approach to everything she does. As our Chief Financial Officer, she works tirelessly behind the scenes to help ensure OESC can continue serving our military community with transparency, responsibility, and heart.

When she's not keeping our finances in order, you'll likely find her with a good book, enjoying trivia night, exploring somewhere new, or spending time with her family. She believes life is meant to be experienced, has walked at least 10,000 steps every day for over five years, and always has a glass of water nearby.

Stephanie may not seek the spotlight, but her dedication, kindness, and steady leadership make a lasting impact on our organization every single day. We're so grateful she's chosen to serve another year with OESC!

Please help us give Stephanie a warm welcome back (even if she'll blush reading the comments 😉)!

🌟 Introducing our Operation Ball Gown Coordinator, Liz Hodge!

Liz hails from Georgia and is a southern girl to her core. Coming to Okinawa has been a dream of hers for many years and now that she's here, you can find her at the beach quite often. When she's not at the beach, she's dressing ladies in gowns that help show their personalities and make them feel good! In addition to volunteering, she loves spending time with her family, cruising and traveling to new places!

If you ever need a dress for your next formal event, be sure to make an appointment and she can help you feel beautiful!

We've Heard You. We're Listening. And We're Growing Together.🩵

One of the things we value most at the OESC Thrift Store is the trust our community places in us. Every conversation, comment, suggestion, and piece of feedback helps us become a better organization—and while meaningful change doesn't always happen overnight, thoughtful change is always worth pursuing when it helps us better serve our community.

With that in mind, beginning this week, Thursdays and Saturdays will be reserved exclusively for Active Duty, Military Dependents, Military Retirees, and DoDEA Employees.

The OESC Thrift Store exists because of our military community, and our mission has always been to support the people who serve alongside and behind our nation's service members. This adjustment allows us to better fulfill that mission while creating a more enjoyable shopping experience and helping ensure our military families have a fair opportunity to browse, shop, and discover the treasures they're looking for.

Every decision we make is guided by one simple question: "How can we better serve our community?" This is one of those decisions.
Thank you for continuing to share your thoughts with us. We may not be able to implement every idea immediately, but please know that your voices matter, your feedback is appreciated, and we are always looking for ways to improve.

🛍️ Reserved Shopping Days
📅 Thursdays: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
📅 Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Please be prepared to present a valid Military or DoDEA ID upon entry on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Thank you for supporting the OESC Thrift Store and the mission behind it. We are honored to serve this incredible military community and look forward to welcoming you in the store.
