Come along to our September meeting for what sounds like being a fun evening.

Elaine and Julia are women who are simply bonkers... about everything allotmenty.

Be prepared for innuendo bingo and hints and tips to inspire even those who thought they didn't like even being outside.

Our Summer trip yesterday saw 26 of us - members, husbands, friends and sons - visit the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas.
Celebrating its 25th year, the 150 acre Arboretum has over 400 memorials dedicated to the Armed Forces, Emergency Services, civilian organisations and, even, animals.
We all went off in our groups to explore at our leisure. Everyone, I imagine, took a trip on the land train which does a slow circuit of the site with commentary.
Some of us watched a short film celebrating the women who have been involved with the Arboretum.
We found the WI bench, which in all honesty, was a little underwhelming.
We appreciated the memorials to various women’s services.

It did start to rain in the afternoon, and we may have got a bit damp, but this didn’t spoil the day. The trees certainly appreciated it.

It is a very poignant and inspiring place,one which probably needs more than just one visit to see everything.

We played our last darts match last night and were well and truly beaten 0-7 by a very good Witherley team. Well done to them.

A great evening last night for our Summer social. Supper, Skittles and a Quiz.
Ann won the skittles.

Single Stem - Liz got Second with her rose and Alison got Third for her dahlia.

Alison got a Second for her Jug of Flowers and a Third for her Guest Wedding Table Arrangement.

Our amazing Hilary, without whom there would be no Nailstone WI at Ashby Show.
On top of all her work cajoling and organising us, designing layouts for our exhibits, setting up the exhibits , baking for collaborative entries as well as individual entries and packing up the exhibits …she has taken on the mantle of CHIEF STEWARD this year.
And what a great job she did.
Hilary you’re a superstar.

Hilary got a first for her Stollen Bites, Second for her Winter Punch and Third for her Gingerbread Biscuits and Cranberry Chutney.
Very well done.

And, following in her Grandma’s footsteps, a First for Hilary’s granddaughter, Esmé, for her Friendship Bracelet in children’s competitions.
