We are a "Family Oriented" group of the Civil War re-enactors/ living historians, who serve to educate the public by portraying the soldiers, civilians, and musicians of the time period. We participate in parades, living history demonstrations, memorial services, and battle reenactments. Historically, the 137th NY was a regiment mustered in September, 1862, from the Tioga, Tompkins, and Broome cou
nties of NY. The men of this regiment saw fierce action at Chancellorsville VA, Gettysburg PA, Wauhatchie TN, Lookout Mountain, TN, Resaca, GA, Atlanta, GA, Savannah, GA. We choose to portray this honorable regiment in an effort to keep the story of their courage, sacrifice and valor alive. The 137th NY is associated with the US Volunteers... an umbrella organization for Civil War reenacting units. We strictly adhere to their safety regulations and by-laws. Safety is paramount in this organization. Our infantry carry functioning muskets, and fire live black powder during events. Today’s 137th Members come from all over Upstate New York and Northern Pennsylvania. We are actively recruiting new members.
