Yuba Area Bicycle Advocates - YABA. The Yuba Area Bicycle Advocates organization was created to promote the use of bicycles throughout the Yuba & Sutter communities.

Promotion includes advocating for improvments in infrastructure, safety and bicycle facilities. Yuba Area Bicycle Advocates are way more than a bike club. We are staffed with planning, engineering, and management professionals who are dedicated to increasing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure projects in the Yuba-Sutter region to induce smarter zoning and development for a healthier and more vi

brant work-live community. We believe collaboration between local NGO's (Non-government organizations) and our local planning, public works, and community development departments to help get funding and get Active Transportation Program (ATP) infrastructure changes.

California has built over 15,000 miles of highways to move cars quickly and efficiently. That level of investment is automatic. It’s the default.

For people on bikes? There are zero connected, protected highway-style routes.

AB 954, the Bike Highways Bill, gives us a chance to change that. Next week, the bill faces a key vote in the Senate Transportation Committee. It would launch a pilot program to build two regional bike highway networks—direct, comfortable routes where people can ride safely and confidently across their region.

This is what first-class infrastructure for bikes could look like: wide, smooth pathways separated from traffic. A way to bypass congestion, reduce emissions, and make biking a true transportation option for more Californians.

But this future is only possible if we speak up.
