The mandate of the Society is to conserve and maintain the heritage character and structure of the Parrsboro Lighthouse as an iconic focal point from sea and land. The Parrsboro Lighthouse Society exists to maintain, promote, and perpetuate the existence of the Parrsboro Lighthouse for tourists and the community for generations to come. The Lighthouse is a ‘must go’ place for photographers all ye
ar round both in storms and calm. The calm and restfulness of sitting in the Big Chairs at the beach and looking across at the lighthouse at dusk is not measurable in dollars and cents, but the expressions on the faces of the elderly, the young and the middle age is very rewarding. We feel the Lighthouse is a symbol and a reminder to the people of Parrsboro and indeed all Nova Scotians of the courage and bravery of their heritage and the importance that they have always attached to the sea.
