ARE OUR CLASSROOMS DESIGNED FOR ALL LEARNERS

Many classrooms are still built around a single idea of how learning should happen; one teaching method, one form of assessment, and one expected pace. When learners struggle, they are often asked to adjust, rather than the classroom adjusting to meet diverse needs.

In some cases, learners with special needs are stigmatized or discouraged from participating fully in mainstream classrooms. Instead of adapting teaching methods and classroom activities, some schools view inclusion as a disruption rather than a responsibility.

Inclusive classrooms, whether in mainstream or special education settings recognize that learners engage differently. They intentionally use varied activities, flexible teaching approaches, and supportive environments that allow all learners, including those with special needs, to participate meaningfully.

When schools choose inclusion over exclusion, classrooms become spaces of dignity, collaboration, and growth for every learner.

Disability does not limit learning.
Stigma and inflexible systems often do.

Often, it isn’t the disability that limits people, it’s the attitudes, systems, and environments around them.

A child struggles in school, not because they can’t learn, but because no one teaches differently.
A person is isolated, not because they lack ability, but because spaces aren’t designed to include them.
A voice goes unheard, not because it can’t speak, but because no one is willing to listen.

When classrooms, workplaces, and communities fail to adapt, disability becomes a disadvantage.

Understanding disability means looking beyond conditions and asking better questions about inclusion, access, and empathy.

At AQBASE, we believe that breaking barriers starts with awareness; and inclusion begins when society chooses to do better.

I came for campmeeting, but passion and assignment had other plans. In the middle of it all, I stumbled on a grassroots organization whose work aligns perfectly with the mission of AQBaSE and the InnovEd Pathway.

One thing I’ve realized is that more advocacy and support are needed in rural areas. As far as we can reach, AQBaSE will continue to contribute towards empowerment because real change must reach every corner.

We visited them, shared a few resources, and more importantly, we’re building a partnership that will open doors for scholarships and opportunities.

It’s amazing how passion and assignment always find their way to meet, and when they do, lives are transformed.

Sometimes I feel guilty for yelling during the morning rush. It's not that the kids are being difficult, sometimes they're just being kids. But with the pressure to beat the school resumption time, we end up dashing out in a frenzy just to make it before the gate closes.

Should this continue to be our daily routine?

Can we start a conversation about shifting the resumption time for primary schools to 9:00am? Let’s give children a more humane start to their day. Let them wake up peacefully, connect with their families, and come to school ready to learn, not stressed, sleepy, or anxious.

It’s time we rethink education beyond rigid schedules, to focus on what’s truly best for children.

What do you think?
Should schools adopt a later resumption time for primary kids?
Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s talk about it.

Summer Lessons Again? Let’s Rethink This. What should your child really be doing this holiday?

For years, summer break has been packed with extra lessons and academic drills, but it’s time to shift focus.

📌 This is the perfect time to unlock skills your child won’t find in textbooks!

Here are good ideas for the summer holiday
✅ Creative arts & crafts
✅ Digital skills (coding, graphics, video editing)
✅ Fashion design, catering, robotics
✅ Photography, writing, DIY science projects
✅ Entrepreneurship training

Do you know that vocational and innovative activities develop higher-order thinking in Bloom’s Taxonomy like:
🔹 Analyzing problems
🔹 Creating solutions
🔹 Applying knowledge in real-world tasks
🔹 Evaluating ideas
These skills build confidence, resilience, and independence not just grades in your child.
A child who learns how to build, design, invent, or sell this holiday isn’t wasting time — they’re building the future.

So this summer, let your child THINK, DO, CREATE — not just READ & RECITE.
