Tender Loving Bearz Fund established in 2009 in memory of Michele Byerlee-Black to provide Teddy Bears and comfort to chi

Michele was an avid collector of teddy bears and a loving mother of two who loved all children. Having a long history of hospital stays and ER visits due to diabetes, she believed it was important for a child who would need medical attention to have a 'friend' to hold onto to make the process less scary. She died in January 2006 at the age of 38 from complications of the disease. A fund to donate

bears and to give a scholarship each year was established by the family in her memory through NC3 Church. Every year on her birthday, February 14, Valentine's Day, the bears are donated to the ER of the local hospital.
