Our hearts are shattered. Our dear friend Carrigan passed away yesterday on Christmas Day. Here is a message from her family that her mom posted a few minutes ago:

🎄✨❤️Our beautiful songbird left us on Christmas Day after her 7-year fight with Osteosarcoma.

Carrigan is at peace singing with angels now. Christmas was her favorite holiday and it’s so meaningful that she entered heaven on Christmas because she was such a blessing and a gift to us all.

Thanks to all on Team Carrigan for loving our girl as much as we do and for your never ending support.🦋

She wants everyone to know that she didn’t lose her battle. She won by staying true to herself, remaining strong and committed to her advocacy work, and to her family, friends, and community. She kept singing even when cancer made it nearly impossible. She persevered and continued to share her beautiful voice with the world.

A few days ago she wrote “I never gave up, I never gave in, and I stayed silly.” 💕

A message from our dear friend Carrigan:

I am reflecting on healthier times and even when cancer struck – I didn't let it take away my happiness. That was a choice. It wasn't always an easy one but it was a choice I made and all of you helped bring me happiness throughout my journey.

It's been a 7 year battle of fighting for my life. The end of my life is closer now. I want you all to know that I will no longer be suffering from the immense pain I am in everyday from tumor overload and chemotherapy side effects.

This week I am entering hospice. My team feels as though I only have a week or 2 left. I will live out my days at Boston Children's Hospital receiving end of life care where my complex medical needs can best be supported by my amazing medical teams.

I am scared but I am also brave and know I will feel comfortable soon.

I am extremely grateful for all the incredible people I have met along the way, the opportunities I have had, blessings and more.

I love you all so much that I can't put it into words.
