The Scottish Government is inviting people across Scotland to share their views on social prescribing through an online survey and conversation.

Social prescribing helps people find local support, activities and services in their community that can improve their health and wellbeing.

Your feedback will help shape a national social prescribing framework, ensuring future services and support are shaped by the people who use them.

A new bedside blood test is now helping staff at Galloway Community Hospital diagnose heart attacks more quickly.

Previously, samples sometimes had to be transported to Dumfries for testing. Results can now be produced at the patient’s bedside - meaning faster treatment, less anxiety and fewer unnecessary hospital admissions.

A welcome improvement for patients across Wigtownshire, and credit to everyone who worked to bring this service to our local hospital.

GP practices across Dumfries and Galloway are moving to a new IT system. Many have already made the change, and more are going through the process at the moment. This month it's the turn of Glenluce, Lockerbie, Sandhead, Shebburn, and Upper Nithsdale practices. In September, Gillbrae, Gretna, Lochinch, and Lochnaw practices will follow, with the final practice, Lochree, due to make the change in October. This is a significant change for practice staff and there may be a reduced level of service at your practice while the switchover happens. Find out when your practice will change and how it will affect you here: https://dghscp.co.uk/gp-it-system-changes/
