AN UNUSUAL MAN OF GOD _ REV. JOSIAH AKINDAYOMI
The prophet hated to see his driver slow down when he is on a mission trip or on his way back to base. "Is something wrong with your car Mulero? Step on it!" As the gospel car (a Benz 280 automatic) flew across the express, he reassured the young man smiling and reading his thoughts
"Don't worry young man. God has shown me that I will not die by road accident!" That should reassure the young driver. In fact a previous driver that preceded him as the chauffeur to God's servant had had a ghastly accident with this man of God. The car veered off the road into a deep narrow gully in the bush but both the man of God and his driver were supernaturally removed from the car unscathed with no physical explanation of how they escaped. The man of God refused to tow the car out insisting that it should lie in that ditch as a testimony to God's powerful deliverance*
But in 1969 something even more miraculous happened. The man of God had travelled to Benin City for a powerful outreach and on his way back with some family members that accompanied him, the car stopped on the way to Lagos. It was in the middle of a forest and no town was in sight. "What happened?" Baba asked
The driver muttered "Epo ti tan!" Meaning we're out of gasoline. Everyone started grumbling, quietly of course. Then the man of God suddenly turned to the distressed driver " Get your petrol keg, get down to that stream and fill up the can with the flowing petrol (water!), then pour it in my car let us continue our journey!"
Everyone knew they couldn't argue with the man of God.
He touched God in a way almost no one else did! So the driver carried out the instruction and almost fainted when on turning on the ignition, the car roared back to life and zoom! They never stopped again till they arrived Lagos. Why! If Jesus could turn water to wine in Cana of Galilee He certainly can turn water to gasoline!*
