Wednesday was Tink’s birthday but we were on the road bringing Calvin home from Purdue and after catching up we had to push her celebration a few days. She said she didn’t mind as long as there were cupcakes involved! We don’t know a lot of the animals birthdays but if you saw Marmaduke’s bday post you know he and Tink are a unique coup of residents and their family sends special treats to celebrate! Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Joey got some wheels today! One step closer to getting this boy up on his feet and running! This was the first time putting him in it so we will be making necessary adjustments and getting him set up for success. We are so grateful to .gate.farm.sanctuary for bring Joe Sprout’s cart to use and helping us get him set up! And to Leanne at for sharing her priceless knowledge and taking the time to give us a game plan. When sanctuaries share resources and work together the animals win. This isn’t a competition, it’s a community and the priority is giving the animals the best life possible.

When we rescued Calvin last year and began the journey of diagnosing and treating his mobility issues we didn’t know what the future would hold for him, of if he would even have one. But thanks to the amazing surgeons at Purdue University he has been given a second lease on life! Even when he had the initial injections we weren’t sure how long they would last and if they were a realistic option. But not only did they work they have lasted 6+ months! After 9 years of being neglected and ultimately abandoned he deserves nothing but the best, and that’s exactly what we are dedicated to giving him. His next round of treatment is coming up and as a 501c3 nonprofit we are dependent on donations to make this all possible. Please consider a tax deductible contribution to help give Calvin the best life possible.

Yesterday was Marmaduke’s 8th birthday! And his family sent a donation to get some treats to celebrate. So we went to our favorite store ( ) and got some vegan cupcakes! Don’t worry, Tink got cupcakes too they were just all gone before I could get anymore pics. If you aren’t familiar with these two you may not know their story. Which unlike most is not a tale of neglect or mistreatment. They in fact had quite the opposite life and were dearly loved, and still are, by their family. But their family experienced a life altering accident and needed somewhere that Marmaduke and Tink would continue to be loved and cared for. They were originally taken in by a sanctuary in Minnesota and when they closed their doors Marm and Tink made their way here. We are so happy to be able to care for and love these two! Happy Birthday Marmaduke!

So many people fall for the term mini or teacup pig and are shocked when they grow to be a few hundred pounds. But when you compare them to big pigs like Alexander they are in fact mini. Just not in the sense that people want them as a itty bitty toy pig that doesn’t exist. And who wants a tiny pig when you could have a gentle giant friend like Alex?
