Ezekiel Dike Ukuku Memorial Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on 17th October, 2012 as a tribute to and in honour of the late Chief Ezekiel Dike Ukuku whose life was an example of selfless commitment to the socio-economic development and sustainability of humanity particularly amongst his Abiriba people in Abia state, Nigeria
and to sustain his legacies in philanthropy in the education sector, cutting across gender lines, with particular focus on indigent and vulnerable children. Although he was not priviledged to have formal education, Chief Ezekiel Ukuku was passionate about ensuring that younger persons following him did not meet with such disadvantage. His altruism was better exemplified in his championing the cause of education for the girl-child at a time when such advocacy was quite unpopular. Together with some like-minded leaders of his era, notably, Chief J.N. Kalu, Igwe Kalu Ogba, George Ezikpe Anagha and Isaac Okoro Ijagha, among others; they founded one of the earliest schools in Eastern Nigeria, the Enuda College, Abiriba in 1954. With these same partners in development, several sons and daughters of Abiriba descent received various forms of scholarships to study, even up to universities in the UK and U.S.A. The foundation was formally launched on 26th December, 2011 in Abiriba with family members, friends and well-wishers in attendance, giving tacit support for the objectives of the foundation, by their much appreciated moral and financial support in cash and pledges.
