🚨 Urgent Community Appeal 🚨

Good evening, everyone.

I am reaching out on behalf of a 20-year-old mother and her 3-year-old daughter who are currently experiencing homelessness after being evicted from their home. They have temporary accommodation only until Saturday, thanks to the kindness of someone who has been paying for a hotel room.

We are urgently seeking assistance from anyone who may be able to help with:

• A temporary room or safe place for them to stay
• An affordable room or apartment for rent
• Employment opportunities for the young mother, so she can begin rebuilding her life and provide for her daughter
• Anyone willing to sponsor a few nights of accommodation while a more permanent solution is found

If you know of any resources or can offer assistance, please send me a private message as soon as possible.

Women United agreed to partner with the National Society of the Protection of Children in The Bahamas, the Bahamas Union of Teachers and BOOST Academy in hosting a *Cyber Safety Week* commencing next week.

We should all take this opportunity to learn how to keep our children safe. Online predation, bullying and sextortion is occurring here - this is not just a foreign problem.

While the Privy Council ruling in Attorney General v. Rolle is a progressive move for children born out of wedlock to Bahamian men, it does not correct the broader systemic issue: married Bahamian women still cannot automatically pass citizenship to their foreign spouses or children born abroad, unlike Bahamian men.
