TARA Child Protection & Empowerment in India TARA is a Delhi based NGO working for Child Protection & Empowerment. At TARA Outreach Center,we work with early educational interventions at community level

At TARA Homes, we ensure quality care, education, individual attention & family like environment. TARA is a residential service with an emphasis on education for vulnerable children, whose families cannot provide them with a home. These families, for a variety of reasons, have found themselves in desperate situations. The child cannot be sent to school anymore, fed properly, or cared for in the fa

mily home. Without a decent education for the child his or her future, as well as the welfare of the whole family, is compromised.

On 26 July 2026, TARA organised a General Health Check-up Camp through the Devyani Health Fund, established in memory of Devyani Singh, an employee of CPCS Transcom Limited.

For this initiative, TARA collaborated with Girl Up Naaz to provide accessible healthcare support to children and families enrolled in our community-based programmes. The camp was led by Dr. Aishwarya Mittal (MD Psychiatry) and Dr. Nikita Agarwal (MD Pediatrics)

A total of 67 participants, including children and parents from the TARA Outreach Centres in Saidulajab and Sanjay Colony, attended the camp. Each participant underwent a general clinical examination and received personalised medical consultation. Based on their individual health needs, beneficiaries were provided with relevant supplements and written prescriptions, along with guidance regarding further investigations or follow-up care where required.

Through these interventions, TARA aims to promote preventive healthcare and contribute to the long-term health and well-being of the communities we serve.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Girls Up Naaz, Dr Aishwarya Mittal, Dr Nikita Agarwal, and the entire medical team for generously volunteering their time, expertise, and compassion. Their collaboration and unwavering support played a vital role in making this health camp a success and in ensuring that quality healthcare reached those who need it most.

They earned their place among India's young innovators. Then they saw the ocean for the first time. 🌊

Meet Sonarika and Shami (names changed), two young innovators from our Residential Programmes. After weeks of ideas, prototypes and hard work, they earned their place in the Maker's Asylum Innovation Fellowship, competing with talented youth from across India.

Five days in Goa, two working prototypes ♻️🌡️, a livestream presentation, ten new friends, and a first walk on the beach, seashells in hand. 🐚

On 7 July 2026, TARA hosted its first-ever Stakeholder Consultation on “The Role of Stakeholders in Strengthening Family-Based Care.” Bringing together government representatives, child protection experts, and civil society organisations, the consultation provided a platform to reflect on a shared goal: How can we strengthen families and child protection systems so that every child receives the care that is in their best interests?

The consultation showcased the progress of TARA’s Family Intervention (TFI) Programme—a first-of-its-kind initiative in Delhi, developed by TARA in close collaboration with the Child Welfare Committees of two districts. Over the past 15 months, the programme has supported 37 children, along with their families and caregivers, through tailored socio-emotional interventions designed to strengthen families and help children remain safely in their family environment whenever possible.

The discussions reinforced that every child’s circumstances are unique and that care decisions must always be guided by the child’s best interests. Participants highlighted how timely family-strengthening interventions can help children remain safely within their families whenever possible, while reaffirming the importance of quality alternative care when necessary. The dialogue also underscored the need to deepen parental and community engagement and strengthen the implementation of Mission Vatsalya to better support vulnerable children and families.

For TARA, this consultation represents more than a milestone—it marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to demonstrate how government, civil society, and communities can work together to build a scalable model for strengthening families within India’s child protection system.

A heartfelt thank you to all the speakers, participants, partners, and government representatives who made this meaningful dialogue possible. Together, we can strengthen families, build stronger systems, and create lasting change for children.

⚽️ **Move over World Cup… TARA’s future champions are warming up! 😉🏆**

The **Delhi Bulls Cup** gave our children the chance to shine, learn, and show their passion for football. A special shout-out to **Namit**, our amazing goalkeeper, whose incredible saves impressed the coaches! 👏🥅

The best victory? Not just the score , but the confidence, teamwork, and determination our children gained on the field. 💙

And the adventure continues! Our players have been invited to the **Delhi Cup Soccer League Selection Trials**, with opportunities to join football clubs and earn scholarships. 🌟

A huge thank you to SPORTATHON FOUNDATION for creating these amazing opportunities and supporting our children’s dreams. ❤️

At TARA, we believe sport is a perfect way to build confidence, resilience, and brighter futures. Who knows… maybe one day we’ll see a TARA player lifting the World Cup trophy! 🏆😉

TARA convened a stakeholder consultation on "Stakeholders' Role in Family-Based Care" on 7 July at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi, bringing together pioneers and leaders of the child care space: government departments, statutory bodies, Child Welfare Committees and renowned organisations including Miracle Foundation India, Udayan Care, Railway Children India, the Centre for Social Justice and CHETNA.
We were honoured to welcome Rashmi Singh , IAS, Secretary of the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Delhi, who commended TARA for creating a platform focused not only on challenges but also on possibilities. Her keynote set the tone for the day; her words in the carousel below.
TARA looks forward to collaborating with all stakeholders, sharing experiences and learning from each other, towards building a stronger family-based care ecosystem for every child.

☀️ Six days of fun, learning and discovery at our TARA Outreach Centre in Sanjay Colony!
From planting seeds and healthy habits to singing, saving pocket money and preparing no-fire recipes, our Summer Camp gave children a week to try, taste and create. The grand finale? Refreshing sattu drinks, homemade lemonade and colourful veggie crackers, all made by the children themselves. 🍋🥗
New friends, new skills, and plenty of confidence to carry into the new school year.
A huge thank you to Jagran Pehal, NIIT Foundation and Manzil Mystics for making this week so special. 💙
