Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue, Inc., is an all-volunteer, U.S. 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that operates throughout the USA and Canada. It is the official rescue program for both the AKC- and CKC-recognized national breed clubs for both the USA and Canada, respectively, as well as most local and regional breed clubs in both countries.

Chester is a 9-year-old prince of a dog. He lost his only human to illness and is currently being looked after by a friend who cannot keep him forever. Chester, a Ridgeback mix, is in good health, up-to-date on vaccines and neutered. He is grieving hard and needs a place to land to start over. NC has dogs…and we’re not fooling!

Josie Bean, Ridge and Zuri are all available for adoption. Please read their attached bios fully and fill out an online application if you’re interested. We also have two more girls who are being evaluated and not ready yet, but if you’re not a match for one of the others, you may be for one of those. Fill out an application so you’re ready when a dog is available! All of these dogs are being fostered in the Raleigh NC area and you must drive to them.

Courtesy post part 2: the 2.5 yr old hound found in Nashville.. his name is “Champ” from his microchip & was stolen from his owner as a pup. She was contacted & cannot take him back. He needs a forever home today!! Transportation provided if within reason by temporary foster. * no cats or small dogs (prey drive)

Meet Tom! A 45lb, neutered, 18 month old athlete. He was found in Davidson County, TN, and his finders have made all attempts to locate his family. He is microchipped, but the number has been disconnected. So now we are looking for a new forever home. Best guess - he is a Ridgeback/Boxer mix. He needs a home with a fenced yard so he can run and play, he plays RR rough! He is not a heavy barker but does occasionally if he sees other dogs walking by. He responds well to treats and positive reinforcement. Within 2 weeks he has learned to sit and is crate training well. He sleeps in the crate every night without disruption. He is house trained and does not have accidents. We are working on walking with a leash which he is picking up quickly. Despite his body builder physique, his favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch to take a nap with his person. He does well with men and women and older children. He is great with other dogs but has a high prey drive- so no cats. He is neutered. If you are interested in giving Tom a forever home, please reach out to Ashley at (704) 965-1139. If you’re thinking of adopting a mature ridgeback, we have a great dog for you! Charlie has been a star in his foster home! He’s a sweet, 7 y/o, well behaved gentleman. He knows commands and is potty and crate trained. Charlie is UTD on shots and neutered, and walks so well on lead. He enjoys visiting new places and meeting new people. He is a playful pup who loves other dogs and also loves a good nap. He has met a cat and seen them on walks, he has a low prey drive so he’s not interested. Charlie is being fostered in the Charlotte, NC area. We do not ship dogs, so you must be willing to drive to him.

Courtesy Post - Update - Georgia - HURRY!!!

The response to this post has been wonderful, but there are still a few puppies left who need a wonderful home. These are happy, healthy, well-socialized pups. Foster mom says they are so smart and gentle. Please spread the word that five of these RR mix pups are still looking for a forever home.

Imagine being a good Samaritan and rescuing a scared emaciated dog from a parking lot, only to find out two weeks later that she is pregnant! Maisie, who will stay with her angel family, gave birth to 9 healthy puppies 8 weeks ago. Four are ridged. There are six males and three females. They are fully vetted and ready to go to their forever homes. Maisie and her angel family are doing everything right and looking for great homes. Southern Region... we have a mix coming in to Alabama who needs a foster home. He is a known RR mix with another hound. 8 years old. Has been to daycare and does well with other dogs, unknown about cats. He thinks that infants are loud and he just doesnt know how he feels about them....
