From our Chairman & Founder...
The welcome I get from my animals every time I come home makes me feel so special and loved, and their welcome is always the same – total love. Animals can’t speak for themselves so I have decided to be one of the many people in the world who wants to help and make change happen. Recently I got terribly upset over a video from the Yulin Dog Festival in China. It upset me to such an extent that in a knee jerk reaction whilst I was sobbing, I put it onto my page. The reaction I got stunned me, as I am of the opinion that one can only stop something cruel and bad if one knows that it is taking place. A few people got me and realised that my intention was good and that it was coming from a good place, and many others called me evil and stupid and unkind! They could not, would not or were not able to watch it, as it was so disturbing and believe me it was, hence my knee jerk reaction. I have since rethought, and realised that there are children on Facebook along with adults, and it could either give children and adults nightmares, or maybe even incite them to doing more experiments and evil acts onto our beloved furry friends. My best friend Carolyn Steyn the founder of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day suggested to me “that I stick my money where my mouth is, and instead of putting up pictures of homeless animals and animals in distress, that I actually do something about it!” So I have, and I welcome you all to Artists for Animal Rights. Being an actor and a singer, I want to extend this invitation to all artists from all walks of life, and friends of artists all over the world to get involved in this humanitarian exercise, and help me to bring about change for the animals and mammals and birds that reside on this entire planet. Before I depart this mortal plane I wish to leave it knowing that I have contributed to my passion. Please will you help me and my fellow artists? The creatures of this planet need us!
Yours sincerely,
Michael De Pinna
