オーストラリア　ゴールドコーストから発信する「よさこい」 Dancers hold naruko (small wooden clappers) in their hands.

Yosakoi is a unique style of team dancing which originated in kochi (Kochi Prefecture) in 1954. It is an energetic style of dance, combining traditional style choreographed movement with modern style music and is often performed in large teams at Kochi's annual summer festival in August. Naruko were originally used in Kochi to scare birds away from the rice harvest. In recent years, the Yosakoi st

yle of team dancing has become popular throughout Japan.

「よさこい」とは、1954年に高知を発祥とした踊りです。日本の伝統的な振り付けと、モダンでエキサイティングな振り付けが混ざり合ったユニークなスタイルが特徴で、「高知よさこい祭り」や「原宿表参道元氣祭り　スーパーよさこい」など「よさこい」を中心とした大きな祭りが日本全国各地で行われています。
踊り子が「鳴子」を手にして、打ち鳴らしながら踊るのが大きな特徴です。

Here is a message from the performers:
Yosakoi is a vibrant team dance from Kochi, Japan, blending traditional choreography with modern music. Dancers use Naruko (wooden clappers), originally used to scare birds from rice fields. Since 2017, Gold Coast Yosakoi Maito has been spreading the spirit of Yosakoi as a KOCHI Yosakoi ambassador, performing across the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
