08/10/2026 MIDDLETON HUNT SETTRINGTON
Today WYHS took the morning to check in on the Middleton Hunt, after a tip off from a concerned local alerted sabs that the hunt intended on hunting in Settrington, due East of Norton on Derwent.
There remains no reason for fox hunts to be out in the September-November cubbing period, apart from the training of the hounds to chase fox cubs before the main season begins, a very blatantly illegal activity. Fox hunts such as the Middleton cannot hide behind legal loopholes during cubbing, both we and they know the express purpose and intent of being out during the cubbing period, is to kill fox cubs.
Hoping to prevent this organised criminal activity, Sabs turned up to the Settrington area, hoping to catch the Middleton Hunt in the act. Quickly finding them hunting along Centenary Way, where Sabs field teams were quickly deployed to intercept.
Sabs kept eyes on the hunt throughout the morning, with the field teams always having sight of the Hunt from the moment they were deployed. The Hunt drew west from Centenary way towards Whinflower Hall and Low Field, before hunting along the dismantled railway north of Westfield Farm.
Aware sabs were all over them, and with no recourse to partake in hunting and killing with our presence, the Hunt feebly resolved itself to pack up, riding in a slow hack back to the meet. Sabs stayed to make sure the hunt had fully packed away, and left for the kennels, before leaving the area themselves.
We remain ever thankful to our supporters, who allow us to keep sabbing, and preventing the murder of our innocent wildlife by this organised criminal racket, that continues to terrorise the countryside, its wildlife, and its inhabitants. Thanks aswell to all the Sabs across the country, who dedicate their time and efforts to ending this senseless murder.
