Moorlands Villages Scout Group

Moorlands Villages Scout Group We were the Moorlands Villages Scout Group. Truth be told adult volunteers often have as much fun as the children.

Our Scout group is normally based in Waterhouses but we like to get out and about in the Moorlands whenever possible. We currently have these sections for boys and girls:
Beavers: 6–8 years old
Cubs: 8–10.5 years old
Scouts: 10.5–14.5 years old

New members are warmly welcome and we are always looking for support from volunteers. Please let us know if this would be of interest to you.

Ladies and Gents, I have the unfortunate honour of sharing the bad news that our small group will close.

It has been decided that due to the small numbers in each section the group is no longer sustainable. I encourage those within the group to follow their Scouting journey's with nearby groups and I would like to thank everyone who has helped over the years. Your efforts and involvement were greatly appreciated.

Our group is looking out for the next generation of Beavers. In the next few months all those in the picture will move to Cubs and there wont be enough little ones to keep the section going.

If you have a child aged 6 - 8 who would be interested in joining please get in touch.

On Tuesday, the Beaver Scouts were treated to a talk from the Staffordshire Moorlands First Responder. A talk designed to enable and prepare our youngsters in the event of an emergency. Practical steps that can save lives. Well done Beavers

As the end of the financial year approaches I have have looked back over the last year to see what we have been up to...

In the last year our Beavers (6 - 8 yrs) have:
Played lots of games, gained skills in Fire lighting, Navigating and Healthy living. We explored the local Quarry, woods and hills.
Performed experiments for the Science badge. Spoke to a pilot, an Olympian and her dog!

Our Cubs & Scouts (8 - 14 yrs) have:
Gained skills in Navigating, Pioneering, Cooking over a fire & Woodworking. We've been on night hikes and played outdoor games in the dark.
Learnt about magnetism, electricity for the science badge. Learnt about stars & planets for the Space badge and much more!

During this two of our youngsters have gained their Chief Scout Challenge badges with many more expected to gaining their awards before the summer.

We have plenty more space for any Beavers or Cubs wanting to join us so please get in touch :)

At Cubs on Tuesday, first we cooked pancakes and then we returned to building a bird box.

Last week was measuring and cutting. This week each cub played their part hammering and nailing. It is rewarding to know that they're helping nature but so rewarding to know that our young team is learning skills and gaining experience.

Parents and friends of the group, could you please have a think about good places to display this poster?

We have plenty of good activities and plenty of space for more children to join the group 🙂
