DASSAN

DASSAN Darwin Asylum Seeker Support and Advocacy Network (DASSAN) supports and advocates for asylum seekers in Darwin and beyond.

We are a community-based network of volunteers supporting and advocating for asylum seekers in Darwin, Australia’s least populated capital city. Since its inception, DASSAN’s role has been primarily to advocate for and support the large numbers of people that have been detained in detention centres in the Darwin region. Now that these detention centres have closed, and given our committed voluntee

r base and the continuing needs of people seeking asylum, DASSAN now focuses on supporting asylum seekers living in our community. We welcome all those who support asylum seekers to join with us. DASSAN works in three main areas: support, community awareness & advocacy. We acknowledge the Larrakia people, traditional owners and custodians of the country on which we live and work. Until we are all free, none of us are free

Hear from people who have lived through more than a decade of cruelty, while being separated from their families, denied basic freedoms, and forced to wait in limbo.
With Parliament resuming in the coming weeks, we have a rare and powerful opportunity to make sure those voices are not just heard, but acted on. What happens now will help set the direction for the next three years.

Email your MP today and help deliver this message by clicking the link below.

After more than a decade of enduring cruelty, refugees and people seeking asylum have delivered an honest and urgent call to action that politicians can't ignore. Help us make sure their voices are not just heard, but drive action. With Parliament about to resume, this is our moment to ensure that f...

Six years on after the eventual abolishment of the Medevac legislation, 39 people still remain abandoned in PNG with no way to access the care they need. Meanwhile, more than 100 people are being detained on Nauru with worsening physical and mental health.
Call on the Albanese Government to urgently evacuate everyone to safety and close this shameful chapter for good. For more info: https://action.asrc.org.au/health-crisis

Huge Congratulations Justine. It is indeed a victory for the community that a community minded person without backing of any strong party machinery got elected to the NT Parliament.

Induction day at Parliament House! Excited, daunted and incredibly proud to be here representing my community of Johnston. There are no words to express how grateful I am to everyone who has helped me get here, for what we have already achieved together and for the work that lies ahead.

Looking forward to the next four years making the Northern Territory a better place for all of us.

Doesn't matter who, where, or how long. The medical evidence is irrefutable: detention makes people sick. The Australian Government owes refugees and people seeking asylum a duty of care. They need to evacuate them now.
