Team India: Projects with Under-served Communities 2017 We're a group of nine engineers and social work students working to build a community center in India next summer. Follow our journey here!

Projects with Under-served Communities (PUC) is a service-learning program for engineering and social work students at the University of Texas at Austin. PUC students come together to empower an international community (and ourselves) through a year-long design project. As Team India, we're building a community center in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This center will provide multiple servi

ces: economic empowerment for farmers, literacy resources for women and children, and an open platform for discussing community issues. Throughout this entire year, we're collaborating with the village of Packianathapuram to ensure that our project truly meets their needs. When we travel across the world next June to implement the community center, we'll be building it side-by-side with the villagers.
