Historias Tenebrosas 2025
Created by Dave Rivas
Produced by C.A.R.P.A. San Diego
Imagine if you will, a family friendly carnival of storytelling that celebrates two different cultural holidays, Halloween and Dia de los Mu***os. Historias Tenebrosas, is Spanish for, Spooky Stories.
At this event, multiple areas of performance and activities are set up where audiences can roam freely to enjoy an evening of spooky storytelling. Sweet treats like Pan de Mu**to, hot chocolate and candies are also on hand as well as mask making, coloring and children’s stories. Audiences can also enjoy musical and dance performances. A fortune teller will also be there to share the fates of our audience.
We are also always looking for new tantalizing stories to perform.
If you would like to submit a story for Historias Tenebrosas, there will be three categories for original play submission:
Cultural Story: A Latino cultural ghost story based on folklore or myth. This can also be stories that were told or shared in your family or where you’re from.
Local Story: Fact or fiction stories based in San Diego County.
(does not have to be Latino based)
Children’s Story: A spooky, fun story for younger audiences 10 years old and under, using the other two formats as a guide.
All stories or poems should be 5 minutes or less in length.
Contact event producer, Dave Rivas for story submission or to be involved as an actor, crew, fortune teller or other terrifying talent.
CARPA San Diego is currently in search of a venue to perform this event. Larger areas where multiple performance areas can be set up is ideal.
