Delighted to confirm that we have placed a new defibrillator into the community at Keystore More on Green Road. Huge thanks to Caledonia Play and DM Sheet Metals who donated the unit that was previously outside their facility in Milnathort. Again, thanks to Andy Craig for installing this one for us and also replacing the cabinet that was vandalised in the telephone box on Muirs.

The new defibrillator is registered on the circuit and ready if needed in an emergency. Please remember to call 999 for the access code and they will also direct you to the closest available unit.

The defibrillator at the bus stop at Kinneswood is currently unavailable. The power has been isolated to the heated cabinet so have had to withdraw it from service until we get this resolved or the weather warms up. The nearest one is likely in Scotlandwell or Loch Leven Larder. Please always call 999 in an emergency.

Disappointed to see someone has vandalised the defibrillator cabinet in the phone box at the Muirs. The cabinet clearly states to call 999 to get the access code. This will now need to be replaced as the heater will be unable to keep the defibrillator at the required temperature. PLEASE do not break the perspex to access any of our defibrillators. Call 999 and give them the postcode clearly marked on the box to get the code.

I have been trying to put a public address defibrillator at the Keystore more on Green Road (or very close by) for months now but we've never had a response from the owner. Believe me, I've tried. I'm just wondering if anyone knows the owner of the building there so we can get in touch directly?

For year's we've been placing defibrillators into the Kinross-shire Community based on where we think the need is greatest and where we can get a business or residential property to host it and use their electricity for the heater that the cabinet needs to keep the defib safe from damage. Within the past few weeks Padmap Scotland (https://www.padmap.org/map) has been launched which aims to identify the areas where defibrillators are most likely to be needed based on a number of indicators.

From their website - "We're all fighting to increase the survival rates of those experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. For the best chance of survival, public access defibrillators (PADs) need to be close to where arrests happen, ideally within 200m (taking about a 4 min round trip to fetch). PADmap can help you to identify new PAD locations that will be close to the highest number of future arrests."

I've attached a few screenshotd of their top locations which would benefit from a defibrillator for Kinross-shire (the green circles). We've recently been kindly donated a defibrillator and heated cabinet by Caledonia Play, DM Sheet Metal and Adam Neilson Ltd, so looking to place it into the community.

If you have a business within one of these areas or private property where a defibrillator could be placed please contact us and we'll consider the best location based on the responses we get.

Unfortunately the defibrillator cabinet that we helped the local community in Rumbling Bridge to install was destroyed last night by a car that mounted the pavement. We're waiting to hear if the defibrillator itself is also broken and the police have been informed. There are no nearby alternatives other than Crook of Devon village hall.

If any local businesses would like to contribute to its replacement please get in touch.

***** UPDATE ***** We have been told that it should be operational again this week.

Just to make everyone aware that the AED at Stuart and Smart in Milnathort has been out of action for around 3 months as the battery is dead and the pads were around 12 months past their expiry date. We made them aware when I spotted the light was not working on the AED. The AED is not their responsibility as it was put there by another group. The AED is still showing as available on the national AED register and has not had its status changed to unavailable. If anyone near there calls 999 they may be directed there to collect it and the box is empty. We have tried to help resolve but without success. Hopefully this situation is resolved soon.

UPDATE - now operational again.

Our defibrillator in Powmill is currently unavailable due to a fault with the heated cabinet. As soon as it's back up and running I'll update this post.

Bust the taboo - don't be too embarrassed to save a woman's life.

Our recent research found that a third of Brits are afraid to give CPR to a woman because they are worried about touching breasts.

In a cardiac emergency, taking fast action is the right thing to do. Make sure you have the skills and the confidence to save a life: https://www.sja.org.uk/cprbra

Special thanks to Chelsea FC Women’s Captain, Millie Bright, broadcaster and DJ, Ashley James, social media star and disability campaigner, Lucy Edwards, and activist, Sharon Gaffka for supporting this campaign.

They look strong and confident, with a determined look. They are all wearing jeans and green sports bras that read "It's okay to save my life". The bras have a yellow hand illustration, representing how someone would perform CPR
