T H A N K F U L - Day 11
As we continue to invite our Young Life Ohana into this season of gratitude with us, today’s guest takes us back again to Ventura… AND Maui!
We met Taylor when she was in high school. During her college years, she would ‘come home’ to see us on Maui. ❤️
Taylor has been hānai for a long time.
Hānai is a term in Hawaiian culture referring to the informal transfer or adoption of a child by another person or family. The word means to feed, nourish, sustain, foster.
The practice of hanai reflects the Hawaiian values of love, compassion, and collective responsibility toward nurturing the next generation.
Taylor’s gratitude:
“I am so very thankful that I met Jesus at Young Life camp when I was 16, and my life has never been the same. Every major decision—from college to marriage to where I’ve lived—was shaped by that moment and by the love and faithfulness of my Young Life leaders, Andy and Jes. Their investment in me changed the entire trajectory of my story and continues to ripple through my life today. I’m so thankful to now serve on Young Life committees as an adult and can’t wait for my own kids to experience the same life-changing love and community through Young Life soon.”
Taylor and her family now live in Florida.
Taylor broke into her storage boxes and found a jackpot of old photos! Woodleaf, spring break surf trips, womens’ retreat, visiting the Claydons. There are lots of stories! *we also confirmed that yes, in fact, Jes WAS preggo with Lara the first year Taylor went to Woodleaf!
