Have you noticed the plant along the path at Bonnyvale place? Its called Burdock. In 1941 Swiss engineer noticed the burrs clung to his dogs fur and his clothes after a walk. He looked at the burrs under a microscope and noticed the tiny hooks. This eventually led to the invention of Velcro! There is also the drink Dandelion and Burdock which goes back as far as the 13th Century and popular as a non alcoholic drink in the Victorian era. Still around today in a fizzy form. 😊

The huge wet meadows beside the Bonny are in full bloom just now with Meadowsweet! You can smell the flowers before you reach the meadows. These wet meadows are fantastic for mammals, insects and amphibians as well as a huge area for insects and come winter they will provide seed for our birds and flocks of finches. Beautiful.

Great to see our wildlife pond on the lower path doing so well. Its really taken off now. The water lily are starting to flower and natural plants are growing. There are lots of wildflowers around the pond and as well as frogs and toads we have aquatic insects, dragonflies and damselflies and even fish!!
Making space for nature. 🙂
