Here is our newsletter posted to our new group Reading BAGSD. Please “like” to keep up to date….
Hi everyone.
Just wanted to end the term with a bit of a newsletter as well as a huge thank you to everyone who has engaged in our community and all the dog related activities. I’m sure you will all join in thanking the members of the Club’s Committee (Helen, Mick, Claire, Susan, Sandie, Vicky and Georgia) who have all stepped up and worked so hard to build our club and enable it to grow. As I’m writing this I realise how much has been going on over the past few months. It really has been an exciting time as well as a time of change.
Following a term of growth in new club members the BAGSD Reading Committee have been delighted to receive such positive feedback from everyone on the recent improvements we have made to the club’s offerings.
The Saturday walks run by Sandie have been really popular and well attended (members have also enjoyed the odd pint and bowl of chips at some of the areas loveliest pubs). Equally popular have been Helen’s (supported by Sue and Michael) Sunday morning agility sessions.
The reintroduction of progress evenings was very positively received by the majority of members and it has been fantastic to see so many of you and your dogs’ move to a more challenging class. All dogs have made progress and it’s great to document this. The training in the park received huge endorsement and this is something that we will definitely be doing more of going forward in the lighter evenings.
For the first time in over ten years BAGSD Reading attended the Southern regions Interbranch competition and even took 2 teams. One team came third! And many dogs came away with rosettes.
Over the summer holidays Colin and Susan are organising Monday evening sessions in a secure field. This is a great opportunity to let your dog roam and play with others in a safe environment. Please message Susan or Colin for availability.
At the end of this month we have our first ever BAGSD Mantrailing sessions with the wonderful Chloe who we met through our lovely friends Nathan and Charlotte at Holistic Hounds. These sessions have now sold out. I’m really looking forward to seeing you guys there and documenting your journey. It is my aim that if popular (I’m sure it will be) that we start to run regular club man-trailing sessions alongside the walks and agility sessions.
We are currently reviewing our training offering for September and hope to be able to run Good Citizens Dog awards for Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold. watch this space….
As we have so much going on Vicky and Bea are setting up an app that they will be launching soon. While it won’t replace the WhatsApp group or page, it will enable us to communicate with each other in a more structured way. More to follow on this from Vicky and Bea.
Last, but hopefully not least, Georgia and I are now able to offer private 1:1 training sessions. These will enable you to focus on whatever challenges you may have; or maybe you just want to supercharge your training. This service is available outside the remit of the club, but hopefully is a beneficial add on, and is offered at £60 per hour, so if you are interested in finding out more please drop one of us a message.
If you like what your club offers please give us a thumbs up. If you want to see more - drop a note in the comments below and give us your suggestions….
Don’t forget that even though Obedience training on a Monday is not running over the summer (except for two classes on 5th and 26th August for new members - please sign up for this in the Starters WhatsApp chat) other activities still continue.
Have a great summer and thank you for continuing to support the club!
Mischa on behalf of the BAGSD Reading Committee.
