Tomorrow (Saturday) is the Park Glen Volunteer Fair from 1-3pm at the YMCA. Come and meet some of the Citizens on Patrol volunteers- ask your questions face to face!

Here's an update on PG activity: As you may have seen from some other posts, there have been four auto break-ins in PG. These were all on Kia and Hyundai vehicles. The suspects are young teenagers that have seen TicTok videos that show how to steal a Kia/Hyundai without a key fob. If you have a Kia (not sure about the Hyundai), be sure to contact your dealer to get the update that prevents that vulnerability. Unfortunately, these kids may still try to break-in not knowing that the vehicle was updated. Garages are a great deterrent to break-ins.

Another deterrent is regular driving around the neighborhood by Citizens on Patrol! Please consider signing up. It's EASY and SAFE. Even if you only patrol for an hour or two per month, WE NEED YOU! You will have a police issued radio that is connected to someone while you are out so help is always available. We rarely see crime but the criminals see our magnet door signs and move on.

Officer Simpson asked that I pass this along: There have been a lot of phone scammers contacting the elderly in PG. If you are or know some elderly, please make sure they know NOT TO GIVE OUT ANY BANK OR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS to any strangers. Even if they say you owe something... don't do it!

Remember please... if you see anything out of place or odd in your local neighborhood, please contact Officer Simpson or the non-emergency number for FtW Police. If we watch out for each other, PG will be a safer place.

Good news Park Glen! The crime report for January had only one item for the E14 beat... and it wasn't in Park Glen.

I suspect the weather was an influence in preventing crime of any type. But PG is typically low on crime. The spring will likely bring the usual "handle pullers" checking to see if they can get easy pickings from parked cars. Please remember to lock your doors and hide anything that looks like it has worth.

Officer Simpson (our NPO) noted that officers were busy last week working with accidents and stranded motorists. They also helped essential city workers get to work during the ice days. Before the storm, officers looked for homeless to make sure they got to shelter downtown.

Thanks to those who responded to the request for volunteers. Please complete the application and send to Brandie.

BTW... another fun thing we do in CoP is help the new police officer recruits in their on scenario base training downtown at the Police Academy. You must have completed the Code Blue training and passed the background check to participate. It's a great way to learn about what officer candidates have to accomplish to graduate.

We had our monthly CoP meeting with Commander Sean Kenjura and North Division PD staff. Here are some topics covered:

Crime is DOWN across the city 15.5%

Crime in N Division is DOWN 12.2%. The only category that increased was shoplifting which went up 2.6%.

The new Chief, Eddie Garcia, is focusing in on finding the sources of crime.

Fun fact: 40% of the area of Fort Worth is NOT developed. We are growing and expect more development. (Ugg)

Citizens on Patrol are credited with being very helpful in deterring crime.

In Park Glen:
A number of people have reported to Officer Simpson that they were scammed through email/websites. Be careful what information you offer on the phone and on the web.

We are down in burglaries of motor vehicles (BMVs) but still have about 2/month. Please watch either in person on on your home security cameras for people walking down the street in the early morning hours. Usually 2am-6am.

Homeless in the area is down significantly but still a problem in our area. Mostly around Kroger/Western Center, Taco Bell, and in Arcadia Park.

The next Citizens on Patrol training class will be in March. Email if you are interested: [email protected]

COPS: Park Glen’s Eyes and Ears for Safety and Crime Prevention

Why is Park Glen one of the safest neighborhoods in Fort Worth? Because of active citizens that step up to help our city’s police.

Even with the security we enjoy, we hear reports of gunshots, cars being broken into in the middle of the night, package thefts from our porches, and even home burglaries. While the FWPD regularly patrols our area, and we have a dedicated Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO Derrick Simpson) for Park Glen, our police can’t be everywhere at once. This is where
YOU can help!

Park Glen has an active city sponsored Citizen’s on Patrol group that works directly with the FWPD and Officer Simpson to be extra “eyes and ears” for the neighborhood. Park Glen Citizens on Patrol volunteers offer their time driving our streets and doing other community service activities.

Perhaps you saw one of us helping at the Turkey Trot, the 4th of July Celebration, or one of the Kids’ ID events. After some simple training, you can work alongside your neighbors and our
police department to help patrol Park Glen, and report suspicious activities for police officars to follow-up on.

All this is volunteer involvement…on your schedule, at your availability. To learn more, please contact us via email at

[email protected]

In your email, please let me know if you’d like us to reply via mail or a phone call. We’d be happy to answer any questions you have and help get you involved!

You can learn more about the program at FWPD’s site:

Training is to provide citizens with basic skills that they will need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of an extreme disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available.
