Thanks to all those who showed up and spoke on Tuesday! We support the Values Act to keep ICE off county property and totally separate from county services. But this crisis requires much more. The next council needs to show its values in its budget by 1) holding the Sheriff accountable, and 2) funding direct services for families whose breadwinner is kidnapped by ICE! These hundreds of families in Frederick are struggling to survive and need county support.

ICE agents were roaming Frederick’s streets nearly everyday, long before they occupied and terrorized Taskers Chance a couple weeks ago. Thank you Bolts for sharing the stories of folks whose lives have been destroyed by ICE, and by our Sheriff who did their dirty work for decades. Its also inspiring to see these same people who lead the work to help their neighbors survive when family is abducted and crisis hits.

They are concentration camps. The camps are for people who allegedly committed a civil law violation. The immigration court system in charge of determining their confinement has been systematically gutted of any real due process, forcing people to remain in the concentration camps indefinitely.

Sure JD, nothing racist about saying that Black and Brown people make our country “poorer, dirtier and less safe.” Never mind the fact that immigrant communities have some of the lowest crime rates in the country and immigrants generate around $1.7 trillion in economic activity every year! This entire administration is disgraceful.

We are CASA and four members are suing DHS, demanding an end to unlawful arrests.
The plaintiffs are represented by Crowell & Moring LLP, We Are CASA, Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll LLP, Amica Center for Immigration Rights, the ACLU of Maryland, and National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild.

The case is Guzman v. DHS, D. Md., No. 1:26-cv-03579, complaint 9/9/26.

Immigrant-advocacy group We Are CASA and four Maryland residents sued the Department of Homeland Security to force it to stop what the complaint calls an “arrest first, ask questions later” policy by immigration enforcement officers.
