“NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US!” Is a disability justice anthem!

We honor Disability Pride!🌈 During July, Disability Pride month, we celebrate the work of thousands who organized for decades to create the Americans with Disabilities Act. It recognizes the foundation laid by the civil rights movement to empower disabled advocates. It is infused with the joy and resilience of QUEER/LGBTQ+ PRIDE legacy’s.
Not only was the ADA modeled on Civil Rights Act of 1964, but the spirit of the civil rights movement inspired disabled advocate protests such as the Capital Crawl of 1990. More than 1,000 people with physical disabilities discarded their assistive devices to crawl up the steps of the U.S. Capitol and urge lawmakers to pass the ADA.

WHOA! is now in Code Purple AQI!

Purple Air Quality Index (AQI) means the air is “Very Unhealthy” with an index value between 201 and 300. This triggers a health alert, indicating that everyone—not just sensitive groups—has an increased risk of experiencing severe health effects.

To stay safe during a purple AQI event:

✅Avoid outdoor exertion: Cancel or reschedule all outdoor activities, exercise, and labor.

✅Seal your indoor air: Keep doors and windows closed, use an air purifier, and set your air conditioning to recirculate mode.

✅Wear proper masks: If you must go outside, use a fitted N95 or P100 mask to filter out dangerous fine particles.

✅Monitor local changes: Check the official AirNow.gov or PurpleAir maps to track pollution levels in your immediate vicinity

No amount of new safety protocols or fees will change this situation. Nippon Steel must invest in green steel making. Not doing so continues to not only threaten the lives of workers and fence-line community members, but also continues to cost the region thousands of future, green jobs. Their current model is not viable‼️‼️‼️
