09122012 - Libya 🇱🇾.. I look at this pic today and see two heroes. One who gave his life fighting for his brothers, and the other who gave his body manning a wall repelling attack after attack even though no help came until Bub came up to the rooftops & Qaddafi’s militia came to our aid that morning. I remember sitting in that C17 in Tripoli, smelling that diesel fuel that you can only smell on a tarmac with big mil birds engine’s cranked. We had finished loading the flag draped coffins & everyone else on …As I sat there on that huge bird relatively unscathed except for a large gash on my left forearm, ears were still ringing from the long night before, feeling lucky 🍀 but also, asking myself “why me??” Why wasn’t I on the gurney, arm torn to hell , the only things holding it together being pieces of shredded bone, flesh and gauze or why wasn’t I laying next to Rone & Bub in my coffin covered in the 🇺🇸 ?……to this day I still don’t have a good answer.. I guess that’s why I try to live every day like it’s Christmas , even trying hard during my bad days

Looking at this pic bring a sense of melancholy but it also a 😊, cause I remember yelling over to Oz to stop sand baggin’ and get up.. in true Oz fashion, even all drugged up, in pain, he still managed a smile and flipped 🖕🏼 me off , lol 😆… long live the brotherhood 👊🏼🇺🇸… I’d start from day one and do it all over again, even knowing what I know now 🇺🇸🫡💪🏼

Eighty-three years ago today, 2,403 American heroes lost their lives at Pearl Harbor. This year, we lost the last survivor of the USS Arizona. Soon, this attack will fade from living memory, but we will never forget.
