We publish below the lovely message sent to our President by Fr Eugenio Montesi who yesterday was awarded the annual Italian Scotland medal for his contribution to and care for the Scots Italian community over so many years.

Thanks so much to you and the Italian/Scottish committee… I am proud of all of you and happy to be a member
I was struck by so many and all so happy smiling people
I pray for God’s blessings on all of us and especially on the elderly and sick members
Ciao amato cavaliere e Grazie per tanto ottimo lavoro

Congratulazioni to Father Eugenio Montesi who has been awarded the annual Italian Scotland medal for his decades of care and support of the Italian community.
The charity’s Patron, Sir Anton Muscatelli, presented the Xaverian priest - who is still working at the age of 86!- with the award.
The ceremony took place at the annual Italian Scotland lunch which was held at Sandro’s restaurant in Glasgow’s west end.
A special day too for all the mums present and remembered as this is the Festa della Mamma in Italy.
Auguri e grazie alle mamme ma soprattutto a Padre Eugenio.
Ad multos annos!

Many thanks to all who came along to mark the Festa della Liberazione at Italian Scotland's weekend event at The Marlborough.

Great music from Sonny Leto kept the large numbers entertained.

It was a special delight to have as our guests and best supporters two Italian ladies aged 95 and 99 who remember the horrors of war and know the infinite value of peace.

It was a privilege to meet such witnesses of history and a reminder of our responsibility to help our society learn the lessons of history.

Join us for a thoughtfully curated evening at The Glasgow Art Club & Gallery exploring the remarkable journey of families who travelled from the hilltop town of Barga in northern Tuscany to the heart of Glasgow.

Led by writer and experienced genealogy specialist Roberto Rossi, this intimate session will trace the stories behind this migration, why families left, how they settled, and the legacy that continues across generations today.

Drawing on historical records, personal accounts and regional insight, the evening offers a chance to reflect on shared heritage, uncover connections, and revisit the enduring links between Italy and Scotland.

This is a small gathering, limited to just 40 guests, designed to encourage conversation and reflection in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Drinks and canapès will be served upon arrival.

Thursday 28th of May, 6:30pm (doors open 6pm).
