Keeping our local heritage alive
This page seeks to raise local cemetery awareness and preservation by promoting the Cemetery Crawl event, an annual tour of local cemeteries put on by the Warner Robins Heritage Society.
The Society’s main goal is to preserve the heritage of the greater Warner Robins area. We’ve found that an excellent entry point to encountering Houston County’s history is by studying its many cemeteries. Aside from the handful of familiar public cemeteries, many old and privately owned burial plots are unknown to the greater public and no doubt many remain undiscovered. Our hope is to save our cemeteries and graveyards from sharing the unfortunate fate of those interred in them: we can keep our heritage alive and resting in peace above ground!
We are fully volunteer and depend on those who share our vision to both put on the event and assist in researching the various sites we put on the tours. Please contact us if you’re interested in helping us out on our next tour on October 26, 2019: [email protected] or message us here on Facebook.
