Our Journey

The land that is soon to become the Kishangarh Community Park used to be, for as long as anyone can remember, a dumping yard. It was a breeding ground for disease, gambling and drugs, and certainly was not an environment that was conducive to the safe and secure atmosphere that Nai Disha strives to create for its students. Nai Disha had brighter hopes for this piece of land and for the residents of Kishangarh. And so, the Kishangarh Community Project was born.

Thanks to the help of everyone involved with this project, including 400 families and 200 school children, all of the garbage has now been removed from the land and the process of constructing its irrigation system is nearly complete. We hope that the transformation of this land into an oasis will be complete within the next year.

However, this project is about more than just the conversion of a piece of land. It is about making the impossible a possibility, the transformation of a group of strangers into a community, and making the future brighter for our children. Ultimately, this project is about a new and better way of life for the residents of Kishangarh. For this reason, Nai Disha has placed a large focus on social interventions throughout this project. These include promoting proper waste management systems, transitions to natural cosmetics and a curriculum being designed for school children around ’sustainability' based sciences.

In the coming days, we will share with you a step by step development of this beautiful project. This page will give us all the strength to face the impossible situations in our lives, be it a garbage filled land or a garbage filled mind.
