The Vermont State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is asking for your help to spread the word about an upcoming event - Vermont High School Turkey Calling Contest. It will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the Yankee Sportsman’s Classic in Essex Junction, Vermont. There will be three divisions: mouth callers, friction callers and a two-man team. All callers will receive a gift from the Vermont state chapter and there will be grand prizes for the winners of each division.

Youth Calling Contest:
A youth calling contest will be held on Saturday, January 17th at the same location. This is for younger individuals who have NOT yet entered high school.

We thank you and ask that you spread the word to help keep our young folks engaged in the outdoors.

We Need Your Help NOW to Remove Public Land Sales from Senate Budget Proposal
After successfully removing federal land sales from the House Budget Reconciliation Bill, a new effort has surfaced in the Senate proposal.

If passed, it would force the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service to sell off up to a combined 3.3 million acres in 11 western states in a manner that would reduce public input, direct 90% of the revenue to the general treasury instead of reinvestment in access and conservation, and set a precedent that could open up more land sales that circumvent existing law.

NWTF lauds the administration and Congress’ efforts to be fiscally responsible, but we do not support selling our nation’s treasured public lands in a budget bill. We welcome an opportunity to help Congress find other solutions outside of public land sales to accomplish this objective.

We need your help, TODAY, to remove this dangerous provision and return land sales to the authority of existing law that requires a rigorous, public process.

Please contact your U.S. Senators, NOW, and let them know that our Public Lands should NOT be part of budget considerations.
