Some stories stay with you forever.

One young boy we supported had no suitable shoes for school. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to provide him with a brand new pair.

He was so happy, he took them to bed with him that night.

Because for some children, a pair of school shoes is something they simply go without.

No child should feel excluded or uncomfortable because their family cannot afford the essentials. Behind every request for school shoes, a uniform or a PE kit is a child who just wants to feel smart and ready to learn.

This is why Little Stars exists and why your support matters more than you know.

Wear Stars 4 Little Stars Week runs 22nd–28th June, and every pound raised goes directly towards our Cool for School campaign, providing children across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin with school uniforms and essential items.

In April, Little Stars supported 60 children and families across Shropshire with essential items and practical support 💛

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, volunteers, and corporate partners, we were able to provide:

⭐ 69 nighttime essentials including Moses baskets, cots, cotbeds, toddler beds, mattresses, bedding, blankets, and pyjamas helping ensure babies and young children have a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

⭐ Support for 12 pregnant women through the provision of pregnancy packs for their hospital stays.

⭐ 12 stairgates gifted to families to help improve safety in the home and protect children from everyday hazards.

⭐ 33 carefully selected clothing bundles for premature babies, newborns, growing children, and families needing summer clothing.

⭐ An incredible 188.5 volunteer hours contributed by our amazing Little Stars volunteers, alongside fantastic corporate support from Aico, Unity Trust Bank and students from Shrewsbury School.

Every donation, volunteer hour, and partnership helps us continue supporting local families when they need it most. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible.

We are proud to share that Little Stars has been chosen as one of the Mayor of Shrewsbury ’s charities for the upcoming mayoral year.

Earlier last month, the Mayor visited our HQ to see first-hand the work we do within our community.

It was a real pleasure to welcome him, show him around, and share more about the families we support and the impact of our work. We are incredibly grateful for his time and interest in our charity.

The mayoral theme for this year focuses on partnerships, activities, and sport to help improve health and wellbeing, which strongly reflects the importance of community collaboration and the role it plays in supporting positive outcomes for families.

At Little Stars, we see every day how access to essential items can make a real and lasting difference to wellbeing in a very practical way.

We are also very happy to be working alongside the other selected charities this year:

Our Founder and CEO, Leanne, also attended the Mayor Making ceremony on Monday evening, which was a wonderful occasion marking the beginning of the new mayoral year.

We’re really looking forward to working closely with the Mayor and all our partners over the coming year, collaborating on events and bringing the Shrewsbury community together.

⭐️ WEAR STARS 4 LITTLE STARS WEEK IS BACK! ⭐️

From 22nd – 28th June 2026, we’re inviting our amazing community across Shropshire to wear stars or pyjamas and help raise vital funds for Little Stars’ Cool for School Campaign.

Every child deserves to go to school feeling confident, comfortable and included but for many families, the cost of school uniforms and essentials can be overwhelming. Your support will help us continue provide school uniforms, PE kits, shoes, school bags and other essentials to local children who need them most. 💛

HOW TO TAKE PART:

⭐ Wear stars or your comfiest pyjamas on any day week commencing 22nd June

We are delighted to share that Little Stars has been awarded a generous £2,000 grant from the Souter Charitable Trust.

This funding will support the continued growth of Little Stars, helping us remain a consistent and reliable service for families across Shropshire who rely on our support every day.

We are incredibly grateful to the Souter Charitable Trust for believing in our mission and helping us continue to make a meaningful difference to the lives of those referred to us.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome John from Shrewsbury Food Hub , to our HQ. He got in touch after receiving generous donations of nappies, formula, and other essential items.

Moments like this are a lovely reminder of the power of local charities working together, ensuring that vital resources reach the families who need them most, while preventing waste.

Thanks to this kind support, these essentials will now go directly to the children and families we support, offering practical help during challenging times.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Unity Trust Bank for spending four days volunteering with us in April.

Over the past two weeks, we welcomed four teams to our HQ, and they were absolutely fantastic from start to finish.

The teams supported us by sorting through lots of donations and helping to prepare essential bundles for some of the families we support. Their time, energy, and enthusiasm made a real difference and helped us get vital items ready to go out to those who need them most.

We are incredibly grateful for your support and for choosing to give your time to Little Stars.

Yesterday we had a lovely surprise when Erin and Holly from Sourcebynet dropped in after recently discovering our work, to see if we were in need of toddler beds for our referral services.

We’re incredibly grateful for their generous donation. These beds will make a real difference, providing comfort and a safe place to sleep for the children who receive them.

Can you imagine not being able to provide a safe sleeping place for your newborn?

During a home visit, a little one was found sleeping in a laundry basket with an adult pillow, putting them at serious risk of overheating and suffocation.

Thanks to a referral made to us, we were able to provide a Moses basket, new mattress, sheets, and a cellular blanket, creating a safe and comfortable sleeping environment for the baby.

Your support helps us respond quickly to urgent needs like this, making a real difference to vulnerable families.
