We would like to say a big thank you to the team at Aico for their continued support through corporate volunteering.

Over the last few months, we have welcomed several volunteers from Aico to our warehouse, giving their time to sort clothes, labels and donations ready to go out to families across Shropshire.

Thank you to Freddie, Sue and Rob for your hard work and dedication on these volunteer days. Support like this makes a real difference, helping us keep pace with demand and ensuring donations are sorted quickly, so they can be turned into bundles and reach families as soon as possible.

As a small but growing charity, partnerships with local businesses like Aico are invaluable, and we're incredibly grateful for the time, energy and care shown by everyone involved.

💛 A little update from the Little Stars team

Throughout August, we've paused our regular donation drop-offs while our small team manages staff leave and working-from-home arrangements while looking after little ones over the summer holidays, so our opening times are a little more limited than usual.

If an urgent need comes in, we'll post here on social media and arrange drop-offs on a case-by-case basis, so please do keep an eye on our page.

Behind the scenes, we're taking this time to check our stock levels, and we'll be publishing a fresh wishlist in September when donation bookings resume.

Our latest impact blog is here, and this summer, Cool for School took centre stage.

Alongside our day-to-day referrals , including a real increase in newborn bundles, we opened our uniform service up to self-referrals for the first time, meaning families could come directly to us for a little extra help as the new school year approached.

In June and July, we were able to support 159 children across Shropshire, 66 of them through Cool for School — and we're expecting August to be just as busy as families get ready for the new term.

Behind those numbers are real families, from a parent whose careful budgeting was wiped out when their car broke down, to a family facing a health crisis that left one parent unable to work with several children to support.

A huge thank you to Sal's Shoes for their generous donation of school shoes! 👟💛

Sal's Shoes distribute shoes to children and organisations all across the world and we're so grateful they chose to support families here in Shropshire.

We've already started distributing some of the shoes this month, as part of our Cool for School bundles, helping local children head into the new school year with confidence.

Some lovely news to share!

We've recently received two grants that will help us keep supporting families across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

💛 £2,836.62 in unrestricted funding from the Baby Bank Alliance
💛 £500 from the Marsh Charitable Trust towards our premises running costs

Funding like this is some of the most valuable we can receive — it means we can direct money exactly where it's needed most, and keep our services running day to day for the families who need us.

We had such a fantastic day on Sunday!

We loved being part of Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation 's open day - so many families out enjoying the activities on offer, it really was a great family day out. Thank you to the foundation for the invite, and to everyone who came over for a chat. Lovely to see so many friendly faces!

We are thrilled to share that we've been awarded a £5,000 grant from the B&Q Foundation to fund Home Starter Kits for the children and families we support! 💛

Many of the children we support have fled their homes and are living in temporary accommodation lacking basic safety provisions. During such a turbulent time, essential items like stairgates, cupboard locks and drawer latches can be overlooked, and are often an expense beyond a family's means, especially as the cost of living crisis forces difficult choices between heating, food and safety.

These home starter kits will help create safer environments where young children can explore, play and grow, offering families real peace of mind during their most critical early years. ⭐

The B&Q Foundation's Home Starter Kit Grants, managed through Neighbourly, support UK charities helping families facing homelessness, domestic abuse, illness or financial hardship.

We are so grateful for their support and belief in our work! 🙏
