Corn snakes (Pantherophis guttatus) are popular, non-venomous 🐍 and docile constrictors native to the southeastern U.S. 🇺🇸 Known for their vibrant orange and red colors 🧡❤️ with checkered patterns, they’re often mistaken for copperheads, but they’re completely harmless 😊.

They can live up to 24 years in captivity ⏳ and adapt well to a variety of habitats 🌿, feeding primarily on rodents 🐁.

Iguanas are strict herbivores, needing a diet made up of about 80–90% dark leafy greens, flowers, and only small amounts of fruit. As natural leaf-eaters, they require high-fiber, calcium-rich foods to help prevent metabolic bone disease. A proper diet should consist of fresh, finely chopped vegetables, and all animal protein should be avoided to support long-term kidney health.

Feed daily with a focus on nutrient-rich greens like collard greens, dandelion greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, escarole, and watercress. Add variety by including vegetables such as shredded carrots, bell peppers, green beans, squash (butternut, acorn, or yellow), zucchini, and parsnips.

Want to see one of these fabulous creatures in person? Visit The Reptile Adventure Zoo today, you might just meet our friend, Mr. Verde 💚

Did you know chameleon tongues are literally the fastest muscle-powered projectiles in the animal kingdom??

We just had to share this one, their tongues go from 0 to 60 mph in 1/100th of a second. That's over 41 Gs of force. Fighter pilots black out at 9 Gs. 🤯

Their tongue can shoot out twice their body length and snag prey in 0.07 seconds using this wild spring-loaded collagen mechanism. Faster than any other reptile, bird, or mammal on the planet.

At today’s meeting we had Evan speak about Chameleons. It was very informative and cool to hear about these fascinating creatures! There are not too many US breeders of some species so there is a chance we could help the species by participating in breeding programs.
