The Sheboygan Rotary Club was honored to be one of the nominees for non-profit of the year at this year’s Sheboygan Chamber Gala. We shared the recognition with many wonderful area non-profits including Rotary Making Spirits Bright.

Also, congratulations to Sheboygan Rotary Satellite Club member and Making Spirits Bright Chairperson Dave Hoffman on his nomination for MVP of the Team for his great work with Making Spirits Bright.

Congratulations Rotary Making Spirits Bright!

Congratulations Rotary Making Spirits Bright!

We are beyond grateful, and truly humbled, to share that 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 has been named 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 by the Elkhart Lake Chamber of Commerce

This honor means so much, not because of the spotlight, but because of what it represents.

It represents every visitor who has made Making Spirits Bright part of their holiday tradition. Every car that drives through with wide-eyed children. Every family that bundles up to walk the path. Every food donation placed in our collection barrels at the start of our mile-long journey. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭. 💛

It also reflects our incredible volunteers, sponsors, and Rotarians who spend countless hours planning, building, hanging lights, and fine-tuning the music so that over a million lights shine in perfect harmony.

Most importantly, it represents the impact made possible for our benefactor, Sheboygan County Food Bank. Together, we’re not just creating a magical holiday experience, we’re helping brighten tables and lift spirits across Sheboygan County.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for giving generously. Thank you for helping us truly make spirits bright. ✨

132,979 Pounds of Food! 🍎

This morning, we were thrilled to have Dave Hoffman, Chair of the Making Spirits Bright Committee, join our Rotary meeting to share the incredible results of this year’s light show.

Despite the bitter cold and winter weather, our community showed up in a big way at Evergreen Park. Because of your generosity, we collected over 132,000 pounds of food for local families in need!

Making Spirits Bright is powered entirely by volunteers, and at Rotary, we are so proud to support this mission. A huge thank you to everyone who shared their time, treasure, and talents to make this a success. Together, we are making a difference! ⚙️✨

Won't you join us in our service to the community? Join a Rotary Club! Be our guest on Thursday mornings at the Sheboygan County YMCA on Broughton Road at 7am.

January 24 is the International Day of Education. Around the world, millions still lack access to basic learning. Rotary is working to change that through books, teacher training, scholarships, school builds, and more. Because education isn’t just about knowledge. It’s about opportunity, equity, and hope.

Malala Yousafzai reminds us: when we educate a child, we empower a community.

Let’s keep learning—and lifting others as we do.

January 23 marks the anniversary of Rotary’s decision in 1985 to begin including women as members. It took years of advocacy, and a U.S. Supreme Court case, but the shift began when Rotary took steps to live out its values more fully. Today, women serve at every level of Rotary—including as president of Rotary International.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg once said, “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.” Rotary finally agreed—and has been better for it.

Let’s keep opening doors and making space.
