If you had to spot a domestic violence survivor in a crowd, would your eyes ever land on Gus?

He’s a gruff 62-year-old long-haul truck driver—bald, broad-shouldered, and looks like he could bounce you out of a bar. But on the inside of his right arm is a purple ribbon tattoo with “BTS” for “Break the Silence,” and there’s a “Break the Silence” sticker in his truck window.

Gus’s story is a reminder that abuse doesn’t have a “look,” and neither does survival. Sometimes the strongest-looking person is carrying the quietest pain—and choosing to speak anyway 💜🚛

What’s one assumption you’ve caught yourself making about who “counts” as a survivor—and how can we do better at believing people the first time they tell us?

đź’š May is Mental Health Awareness Month đź’š

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Taking care of your mind helps you stay strong for your family, your work, and your community.

In our community, we understand that challenges such as stress, trauma, and substance use can impact mental well-being. It’s okay to ask for help—and support is available.

✨ Helpful Tips for Taking Care of Your Mental Health:
• Take time each day to rest and recharge
• Stay connected with family and friends
• Get outside and stay active, even if it’s just a short walk
• Limit stress when possible and set healthy boundaries
• Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling
• Seek professional help when needed—there is no shame in getting support

Our office supports programs that focus on treatment, rehabilitation, and second chances—because stronger individuals build stronger communities.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. You are not alone. đź’š

Congratulations to this group who completed Civil Process/ Court Security Basic School on Friday. This course is designed to provide the basics of court security (there is more to it than you think) and teach how to serve the various types of civil process that are in use in the Commonwealth. This course is an intense week because of the amount of material involved.

Thank you to the instructors who provided instruction this week and thank you to the class for powering through! Well done!
