With coordination and collaboration, local service providers and other partners (including local government and community residents) can work together better to address specific issues. Otero County Community Health Council (OCCHC) meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 12pm (currently Conducted via Zoom)
Behavioral Health Collaborative (BHC) meetings are held on the third Tues

day of every month at 12pm (currently conducted via Zoom). All are welcome to participate in OCCHC/BHC meetings and events. Meetings generally include a health-relevant presentation, subcommittee updates, partner organization round-table discussion and information sharing. Together with our subcommittees OCCHC/BHC focus on well-being, awareness, community health, mental health, and building collaboration. "The vision of the OCCHC is for Otero County to be a place where all people have a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible." "The mission of the OCCHC is to promote programs, practices, and policies that advance health equity in Otero County." Action Teams are currently meeting via Zoom as well:

• HEAT (Health Equity Action Team) meets the fourth Wednesday of the month via Zoom at 9:00 a.m. Chairperson: Kayla Blanchard
• CARE (Community Awareness Resiliency Engagement) meets the third Wednesday of the month via Teams at 8:15 a.m. Chairperson: Tracy Rivera
• HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living) meets the third Thursday of the month via zoom at 1:00 p.m. Chairperson: Kelly Knight

This is a friendly reminder that the OCCHC March meeting is tomorrow at The Counseling Center. Please note that the 11:30 AM networking time is a new addition to our schedule. The meeting will run from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, with networking beginning at 11:30 AM and our featured speaker, Samantha Winter SCOPE Health CouncilCoordinator, presenting at 12:00 PM.

We are excited to launch our new committees this month!!!

The Overdose Prevention Committee will work to increase access to overdose prevention services and resources, offer education to the community, and implement evidence-based harm reduction projects.

📢 January OCCHC Meeting – Tomorrow!

Join us tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. at the Counseling Center for the January Otero County Community Health Council (OCCHC) meeting.

This month’s meeting will feature a presentation on the Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Plan presented by Lillie Lewis from CHRISTUS Southern New Mexico.
