On Memorial Day
Memorial Day:
This holiday is dedicated to remembering and honoring the men and women who have died in service of their country.
Symbolism:
Flying the flag at half-staff until noon is a somber act of mourning, recognizing the loss of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Raising the flag at noon:
The act of raising the flag to full staff at noon represents a transition from mourning to a more positive outlook, honoring the living veterans and their service.
So it is PERFECTLY FINE to Thank a Veteran on Memorial Day for THEIR SERVICE. Just don't say "happy" as it's a day to honor those who answered the call to serve
