For the past ten years, Scottish Business Network has brought together people across Scotland and around the world who share a connection to Scotland and a desire to help one another succeed.

From conversations at events to introductions across continents, we've seen first-hand how the right connections can open doors, create opportunities and build lasting relationships.

Today, our community includes more than 20,000 people, over 65 Ambassadors and connections spanning more than 70 countries.

This week, we introduced our new membership model, marking an important step in making SBN a more proactive and supportive international community.

We want to create a network where people don't simply join, but get involved, share their experiences, support one another and discover new opportunities.

From a small town in Scotland to winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Next Tuesday, our friends at Chicago Scots are hosting a fascinating conversation with Sir David MacMillan, the Scottish-born scientist who won the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Sir David will share his remarkable journey from growing up in New Stevenston, Scotland, to becoming a professor at Princeton University, exploring the discoveries that changed modern chemistry and how his Scottish roots influenced his success.

Hosted by Stuart Miller, the conversation promises to be an inspiring look at Scottish talent making an impact around the world.

Today, we're taking the next step in that journey with the introduction of our new paid membership model.

London Meetup Tomorrow at the Shoap!

Tomorrow on September 29th, we will bring together friends and members of the SBN community at The Shoap – Scotland’s home from home in London.

The evening will feature a selection of short contributions from people across our community, highlighting what they’re working on, what they’re looking for and where the network might be able to help.

Edinburgh Airport is investing in Scotland’s global connectivity.

More than £500 million will be invested over the next five years, expanding the terminal footprint by 60%, adding new gates and supporting more short- and long-haul routes.

For Scottish businesses, better connectivity means easier access to customers, investors, talent and international markets — while the programme also creates opportunities across construction, engineering, technology and professional services.

As Scotland looks to grow its international reach, the question is how effectively this new capacity can translate into trade, investment and growth.
