Poulsbo Garden Club All things Garden

Our meetings are usually held on the 2nd Saturday of each month in the Community. In 2013, the club awarded $2000 in grants and scholarships.

For more information about the club and their activities please email us at [email protected] The Poulsbo Garden Club was founded by three Poulsbo, WA, gardeners in 1997 with a signup sheet at Valley Nursery, Poulsbo, WA. In the beginning the club had 4 members; currently, the membership is at 81. The first meetings were progressive garden/potluck luncheons held during the summer months.

Members enjoyed visiting local gardens and eating delicious food. In addition, member plant auctions were held as a way to exchange plants and as a method of raising funds. The Poulsbo Garden Club uses funds raised through plant sales to support local beautification projects and grants. The first public plant sale was held in 1998 at Molly Ward Gardens. The sale raised over $250 that went to the Indianola Trust Fund. To this day, we continue to have summer garden tours with potlucks, member plant auctions, and annual plant sales. The Poulsbo Garden Club is fun, educational, and well nourished! Every meeting includes delicious food and stimulating conversation. Several of the first meetings were held at member homes, Molly Ward Gardens, and Valley Nursery; now most of the membership meetings are held at the Poulsbo Public Library, Lower Level. Community projects are an important component of our organization. The Beautification Committee is the largest and most dynamic committees in the Poulsbo Garden Club. One of the first community service projects was helping the Historic Downtown Poulsbo Association fill planters along Front Street. The club continues fulfilling its objective of promoting civic beauty and roadside improvements by helping maintain public gardens in Poulsbo. The daffodils blooming at City Hall and along the Liberty Bay boardwalk were planted with the help of the Poulsbo Garden Club.
