Veterans Day was originally named Armistice Day and celebrated the Armistice that ended the fighting in Europe on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

The name was changed in 1954 in order to allow the celebration of all Veterans from all eras, not just those from World War I. This holiday is distinct from Memorial Day, as Veterans Day celebrates all Veterans, and Memorial Day remembers those who have fallen in the service of their country. So, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, please remember to thank a Veteran, and not just those of the AOH, but all of those who made sacrifices.

Saturdays AOH Div.4 Food Drive 11/1/2025 for Bluestar Family's Pantry serving Active and Veteran Military Familys was a great success. Over 35 shopping carts of food 147 shopping bags were donated from generous shoppers. I would like to thank the Mannix Family for letting us use the Shoprite at 3010 Veterans Rd. West S.I.,N.Y.10309. The Division meets on the second Monday of the month at 8:00 pm at the Staten Island Elks Lodge No. 841, located at 3250 Richmond Avenue Staten Island, NY.
