Sometimes prayer sounds like strength.

Sometimes it sounds like exhaustion.

Sometimes it’s just the most honest sentence a person can manage.

Lindy’s words in this moment are quiet, raw and deeply human. There’s no pretending. Just the weight of what she was carrying, and the hope that somehow, there might still be a way through.

When someone feels overwhelmed, the first response they receive can matter deeply.

A calm voice. A listening ear. A practical next step. Someone who stays.

Sometimes the pressure doesn’t come as one loud sentence.

It comes in small looks. Subtle comments. Quiet assumptions about what a woman can carry, become or still hope for.

Those things can feel heavy, especially when someone is already carrying so much.

What if support sounded more like belief than judgment?

A test. A conversation. An appointment. A diagnosis.

Some moments stay with us.

They change the way the future looks. They ask questions we weren’t ready to answer.
They reveal who stays close.

Through In Her Shoes, Emily’s Voice shares real stories from women and families who’ve walked through fear, pressure, uncertainty and hope.

Stories can help us listen more gently. They can help us see the person in front of us.

There are some conversations you never forget.

Not because every fear disappears, or because the road ahead suddenly becomes easy, but because one response helps you breathe a little differently.

For Aly, this was one of those moments. Sometimes support begins with a sentence that says, you’re not doing this alone.

Hope can look very practical.

A meal. A ride. A safe conversation. Someone who doesn’t disappear when life gets complicated.

When a woman is facing an unexpected future, care needs more than good intentions. It needs hands, feet and people willing to stay close.

Sometimes the future arrives before we feel ready for it.

Before the plan is neat. Before the timing makes sense. Before we know who will stand with us.

There’s something very human in that space between knowing what’s in front of you and not yet knowing how it will all unfold. Aly speaks from that place with real honesty.

“So I was very alone and very scared.”

Aly says it simply.

Third year of uni. Three hours from family. Working six days a week. Studying full-time. Then two lines on a test she didn’t expect.

Fear doesn’t always arrive loudly. Sometimes it arrives late at night, when no one else is there, and you’re trying to work out what happens next.

Aly was 20, in her final year of law studies, working six days a week and building the future she had worked so hard for.

Then she found out she was pregnant.

Her story speaks to the pressure many women feel to choose between motherhood and the future they imagined.

But Aly’s story gently challenges that.

This EOFY, your gift helps Emily’s Voice keep sharing brand-new stories like Aly’s with truth, love and care.
