There are nine volunteer fire and rescue departments, which operate 19 stations in Prince William County. Collectively, the volunteer departments provide fire and emergency medical services to the County’s citizens and visitors during weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prince William County’s volunteer fire and rescue departments are seeking motivated individuals who have the desire to make a difference and provide an important service to their community. As a volunteer you will learn firefighting and life saving skills. You can make friendships with people who have diverse backgrounds and interests. These networking opportunities, along with skill building and leadership training, can assist you with your career development. If you prefer to support the department “behind the scenes” rather than respond to calls, there are many tasks and responsibilities you can help accomplish as an administrative, auxiliary, business, or associate member. It takes dedication and time, hard work, courage, and willingness to accept the challenge of a sometimes difficult but rewarding job.
