Join ACB in advocating for vision services for young children! Two bipartisan House bills—the Early Detection of Vision Impairments for Children (EDVI) Act and See the Board Act—would direct funding to diagnose, treat, and serve children with vision loss. The early detection will enable children to receive treatment or school services needed to address their disability. In doing so, it will allow the children to be more successful in the long run.

The EDVI Act picked up eight new cosponsors this month! Help us keep the momentum on this bill by contacting your representatives. Click here to send a message:

Advocacy call to action!

Let’s urge Congress to pass the We Can’t Wait Act of 2026 to end the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) waiting period. After being approved for SSDI, individuals may have to wait up to five months before receiving benefits. For people who are newly disabled, this delay can have serious financial consequences at a time when support is needed most.

The We Can’t Wait Act of 2026 (S.3942) would:

✅ Allow applicants to receive a portion of their benefits during the waiting period

✅ Give individuals the option to receive support sooner in exchange for a modest reduction in monthly payments

✅ Maintain the long-term financial stability of the Social Security system

This bipartisan solution gives people a choice and helps ensure they aren’t left without support when they need it most.

Tell Congress to pass the We Can’t Wait Act and provide timely support for SSDI recipients. Send a message to your representatives here: https://speak4.app/lp/fn01vsao?ts=1773953961

Join ACB in urging Congress to reverse reductions impacting people with disabilities!

The U.S. Department of Education recently enacted sweeping layoffs that have nearly dismantled the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA), and the Office for Civil Rights (OCR).

These cuts remove the staff responsible for enforcing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Rehabilitation Act, putting essential protections for students and adults with disabilities at serious risk.

Join ACB, VisionServe Alliance, and the Association for Education & Rehabilitation of the Blind & Visually Impaired (AER) in urging Congress to take action.
