Chilton Foliat Chilton Foliat is an ancient settlement mentioned in the Domesday Book. Chilton Foliat is an ancient settlement, going back to Saxon times, and beyond.

Our beautiful village lies alongside the River Kennet, and has a busy pub, very popular school and a great sense of community It is a small village with a current population of just over 300 adults. And it's beautiful, with many ancient houses. You could say it's a typical English country village. The village lies alongside the River Kennet, a very beautiful and clean chalkland river, much loved by fishermen. This page has been created by villagers and aims to provide visitors and locals alike with information about the village. Any comments on how we can improve the page are always welcome. 09:00 – 16:00

East Soley (Part) and C207 (Part), Chilton Foliat (up to and beyond the Y Junction). To enable M Group on behalf of Wiltshire Council to carry out urgent Bobcat Patching and associated works.

The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Alternative route: via B4001 East Soley unaffected length, B4192, West Soley Lane, Eastridge,

Ramsbury Road and Stag Hill and vice versa.

Alternative route: via C207 unaffected length, A338, A4, B4192 and Stag Hill and vice versa.

Due to dry ground conditions Field View will remain closed. The contractors will water the pitch tomorrow and will advise when we can reopen- expected to be next weekend.

A message from the Parish Council

A w**d feed and moss treatment has been applied to the football pitch at Field View. The area has been taped off and advisory signs placed at both entrances. We ask that people do not enter the area until the signs have been taken down - expected to be Sunday 20th. We apologise for any inconvenience.

The Friends are delighted to announce that our amazing school community has raised a fantastic £7,571.23 for the children of Chilton Foliat Primary School in 2025-26! 🥳

We are especially pleased to share that we were awarded £1,500 through the Tesco Blue Tokens scheme. Thank you to everyone who voted for us in store. This funding will enable the school to purchase new reference books, including a brand-new set of atlases, helping to enrich learning across the curriculum for all our pupils. 📚🌍

A huge thank you goes to every volunteer, parent, grandparent, staff member, local business and supporter who has given their time, donations and enthusiasm throughout the year. Whether you helped organise an event, baked cakes, ran a stall, bought raffle tickets, helped at a disco or supported us through our Easyfundraising site, you have made a real difference.

The funds raised have enabled the school to provide a range of resources that enrich the children's experience at school, including:

📖 Roe Class - whole class reading books, curriculum resources and additional phonics guided reading books.

✨ Fallow Class - sensory equipment, curriculum books and resources, cushions, a tuff tray, backing materials, a rug and nativity costumes.

🌟 Muntjac Class - cushions, curriculum books and resources, and sensory equipment.

📚 Sika Class - curriculum and reference books, including books linked to our school values.

🌳 Whole School - story books supporting Inclusion and Diversity Week and additional Forest School resources.

Every penny raised helps us create richer learning opportunities, provide valuable resources and support memorable experiences for our children.

Thank you for helping us raise funds, support our children and strengthen our school community. We can't wait to see what we can achieve in 2026-27!

The galvanised steel planters at either end of the village on the B4192 have now been refreshed and replanted. Each contains a Choisya and an ornamental grass. These plants are pretty hardy and drought tolerant, so the hope is they should settle in and grow to fill the space. The Choisya are spring flowering and evergreen. Each plant is labelled with the exception of the Miscanthus 'Gold Bar' in the planter on the south side at the Ramsbury end. If you happen to be out walking and spot a w**d making a bid for a new home, feel free to pull it out, all help gratefully received 😁
