ALONE is a national organisation that strives to enable older people to age at home, safely and securely, for as long as they wish. We work with all older people, including those who are lonely, isolated, frail or ill, homeless, living in poverty, or are facing other difficulties. We provide an integrated system of Support Coordination, Practical Supports, Befriending, a variety of Phone Services, Social Prescribing, Housing with Support, and assistive technology. We use support plans, provide a point of contact for access to health, social care, housing, transport and other arising needs using technology and other services and activities to improve physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. We have nearly 3000 volunteers throughout the Country who conduct and provide practical supports to older people, visits and phone calls, linking older people into social activity and being a companion.

Join the Loneliness Taskforce Research Network for our new webinar on November 4th from 2-3pm.

We're delighted to have Dr. Nikki Dunne from Family Carers Ireland coming to speak to us about their recent findings form the State of Caring report.

This webinar focuses in on what the findings tell us about loneliness and isolation among family carers.

Dr Dunne will explore how the intensity and duration of caring, limited opportunities for breaks, financial pressures and difficulties taking part in work and social life can all feed into loneliness.

Our Community Impact Network (CIN) team, together with our Hi Digital programme partner Vodafone Ireland Foundation, were delighted to meet so many wonderful people at the Ideal Home Show last weekend! 💙

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, had a chat with our teams and learned more about our programmes.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, share information and raise awareness of the work we do to support older people across Ireland.

Volunteering isn't always about one person giving and another receiving.

For Renato, his weekly visits with Sean have become a highlight of his routine.

They share tea, sometimes pizza or fish and chips, and simply spend time together. In those moments, the noise of everyday life fades into the background.

Renato says that when he visits Sean, his own problems seem to disappear — and he leaves feeling recharged.

That's the thing about connection: it works both ways.

Give a little of your time. Make a meaningful connection. And see what you get back.
